colossus zealot SENTRY. guardian shield helps a lot vs hydra too, as well as the ability to block them off for your colossi to pick off.

storm tech is also viable.

upon seeing your lack of stalkers, zergs will immediatly start getting corruptors and kill all your colossus then rape all over you though

colossi is a big big big big BIG brusier to the hydra/roach mix mass. and even more so to the mass hydra. it is true that clots+colossi will do well against hydra. but not nearly as so when they start pumpin the macro (you will be forced to engaged with with colo first, while keeping the lots back, then charging upon hydra range on colo) when the macro starts your clots will be eatin alive by the mass hydra range. So when the macro starts you need to do the same. Go with clots+colo, and start your expand. This should (in theroy) hold off most of the hydras (especialy with warp reienforcement. Head to stalkers as soon as you start the expo. Around the mass macro stage zlots, and clots greatly loose their effectiveness due to melee range. You will have the gas to support a 4-5gate +2 robo of two basses. force engage with the colosses, and the stalker wall to keep the hydra from FF. This also helps with the hard macro tech switch of the mutalisk which will totaly destroy/harass/mapcontrol/win against clot+colo. So in short. Lot+colo expand. Stalker+colo agressive. Muta=stalker/storm. hydra/muta=stalker/colo/storm Everything=everything. Its a game of chess. Scout!!!!

I play mass hydra vs toss a lot. Just go colli/stalker w/ a few zeals mixed in, its so annoying to deal with. Mass hydra w/o roaches is really vulnerable to colli stalker. I was playing this guy earlier, he went colli stalker, I contaminate spammed his robo, so he didnt even have colli and he just had tons of stalkers and ended up beating me because I kept with hydras for too long.

I'll try bringing sentries and collossi into the mix, I usually left sentries out of it because for 25 gas and 75 minerals more I could get a dt with does a lot more damage until detected.

Hydra are so much slower than BW... Storm.

Being warned for this post is stupid... the information is clear. In SC2 Hydras can't Storm dodge effectively. Storm does exactly 1 Hydra of health over its area killing many Hydras. If Speedlots are there to clean up, peace out mass Hydra.

Noting the warning combo that went down in this thread, I think a mod just woke up funky.

Zatic:
I can't imagine how you'd judge if we watched the replay or not... moreover, he's asking for general help vs mass Hydra is he not? Thus, his replay may or may not be relevant to that. As a general note, few Ps attempt Templars vs Z instead, favoring the Collo.

If you do a timely push with a 4 gate build you should be able to get to their base with a big enough force before hydras are out, usually if you timed it right, just as they start popping. And without that critical number of hydras, you can easily take the zerg player out

I added collossi into my army along with sentries. Heres a replay of the game, even though my opponent was a noob..

Tell me if this is what I should be doing against hydras? Thanks again guys

As a zerg player, I can say for sure that colossus with range behind any army, or HTs with storm decimate hydras. Mass hydras are really strong, but only if you don't produce one of two units which hard counter them completely, it's really easy to do but toss tend to forget about this. Don't waste too much gas on stalkers or immortals.

I am not trying to be redundant, as others have already stated colossi, but I don't feel they elaborated enough on that point. Colossi and HT both counter hydras quite well, however colossi are very good versus hydralisk and are decent against roach, whereas storm is not that good versus roach, being simply adequate. The HT requires micro as well, which divides your attention between two casters, your HT and sentries. Sentry guardian shields and force fields are very necessary, so I feel overall the colossus does a very consistent stream of easy damage, whereas the HT are not always easy to use and consistent.

You want to back up colossi with stalkers which will deter air to a degree. That being said, you will also need void ray when they start to bring in corruptors. Three to four void rays take out corruptors very, very quickly. Stalkers are not effective at this role because they will target the hydralisks over corruptors, and often you cannot dedicate many stalkers to corruptors or else you cannot deal enough DPS to the hydralisk. An ideal army would be colossi, stalker, few zealot and sentry (guardian shield, very useful) and three or four void rays. This isn't always possible, but just keep in mind that this is your go to army when possible.

Warned / banned everyone that did not watch the replay and/or just spammed one liners, nonsense, entirely unhelpful trash into this thread.

OP: You could have found better answers just googling, searching this forum, watching VODs or by playing the game. Sorry that this forum is such a gigantic failure.
