I am a complete noob, I have searched the forum and have drove myself nuts trying to figure it out on my own so I come to you guys. Is there a way to hotkey units so that they will automatically go to a desired number or do you have to do it after they are created manually?

One thing that I find useful though is to press SHIFT-# to add the selected units to desired hotkey group.

select the group you want to add to - e.g. you have a group of 20 marines on group 1 when 5 marines pop out of your barracks, hold shift and drag-select all 5 marines (OR hold CTRL and click any one marine to select them all) re-assign your selected units to group 1 by hitting CTRL + 1. Now you have 25 marines in group 1. edit: wait I'm not actually sure if you have to do that last step T_T

you dont cycle through every building itself, but through the building types. so in your case tab would swap between your 2 factories and 3 barracks

Say you are protoss and have your entire army including gateway units and collosi clustered around a nexus with probes in the mix. You select your entire army, then SHIFT-CONTROL-CLICK on a probe in the wireframes to remove all probes from the selection, then SHIFT-CONTROL-CLICK a colossus to remove all colossi. The remaining gateway units can then be control grouped together, and you can make a seperate group for the colossi. Any new gateway units or colussi can then be added to their control grp by using SHIFT as mentioned.

If i want to build units in my reactor rax fast, it would better to separate it on its own hotkey, right? I'm looking for ways to effeciently build units without mass clicking so i can still build while under pressure situations. thoughts? if you got 2 reactor raxes and 2 tech lab raxes they do not count as similar units and so you can tab between them

This way you don't have to shift click each unit individually, just once for each unit type that doesnt belong.

Yeah if you wanna remove an entire unit type that's better, I usually don't find I wanna remove all of a certain unit most of the time though.
