Had my first games last night with a friend, two PvT games.

My initial thoughts were

1. Reapers are OP as shit haha my probe line :'( MY PROBE LINE.
2. God damn tanks are strong, not OP, but damn strong.
3. I really love the dragoons! They feel so great.

Great work on the game, feels and plays great, will love to see the patch changes in the future!

The thing is you can rush to 4 reapers so quickly thanks to the macro mechanic of the orbital command and 4 reapers one shot a probe. Since their AOE is so big the mineral line dies in a second. Look at the replay i posted two posts above.

I would take them away the ability to jump cliff, even though reapers drop would be still pretty OP (even more than the old pre nerf blue fame elliions)

Its good that you all mentions stuff you find weird, imbalanced or just.. great!

The more feedback I can collect the better I can make the next "patch" of the game, that will come in a couple of days.



1 - How does the overall gaming experience feel? The flow of the game, the challenge it provides, the entertainment value.

2 - How you feel about the new mechanics in the game? Overcharge, Breed, Wraiths with Missiles, Infestors new role etc

3 - Certain balance issues, is that unit to good, or that unit is to bad, or that races don´t have an answear for that situation etc.

4 - Suggestions of solutions to "fix" things you feel weird. Add or modify existing stats, abilities, upgrades etc

The Ancient Colosseum is now uploaded to the EU server.

to Kabel:
the minerals currently do not have the proper amount of minerals, and the gas geysers have the wrong amount of gas, please adjust said factors before publishing with the starbow mod.

to everyone:
the starbow mod is not applied to the map and the resources are not set to proper values, I let Kabel do that.

keep in mind that this is version 1.1 (1.0 being a test upload for myself), I would be happy to know about the inevitable imbalances that is sure to occur.

about the map:

the background story:
ages ago a civilisation lived in the area, after a war and subsequent extinction, nothing remains of the city but the great wonder, the colosseum!
the years have taken their toll on the building, but the inside holds strong for the most part, the tall walls even provide protection from the harsh desert winds to allow trees and foliage to grow healthily inside.

and gameplay details:
in general:
the map encourages macro play even more than starbow does in and of itself, no attackroute gives you the high-ground advantage, either you give that advantage to the defender, or you take a long detour, rocks covering ramps going to the center of the map increase the rush and scout distance a bit, but not by very much.

1v1:
close spawn disabled.
it is fairly easy to get 4 bases, your main, your natural, your would-be allies natural and your would-be allies main, but doing so requires you to hold 2 ramps and a lot of surface area where drops, reapers or blink dragoons can get in.
the 5th and 6th require you to extend towards your opponent, and both are very vulnerable if you cannot hold 3 chokes, after those the bases tend to be harder and harder to hold.

2v2
featuring a massive 24 bases it is possible to go far into the lategame and stay there for a while even with 4 players grabbing minerals by the thousands, the third base is fairly easy to take and hold as long as both players cooperate and defend 1 choke each, the last choke is covered by rocks which should buy enough time to rally defenses there if need be.

New update for Starbow



Major changes




Fixed the mineral/gas ration in game.

Many players had so much gas but nothing to spend it on. I have adjusted unit costs and the mineral/gas ratio of mining.

Nerfed Dragoons.

They were sooo good. Destroyed everything They are still good, but they attack slower.

Reapers need an upgrade to use the flamethrower.

2 early Reapers could wipe out the entire mineral line. Now Reapers has the gun attack & can be upgraded to get the flamethrower. It can no longer throw bombs at buildings, because Terrans early pushes vs Zerg were almost unbeatable. Attack with a handful marines & reapers, focus fire the spine crawler, roast the zerglings & rape the queen.. : /

Improved the Reaver & Scarabs.

Reavers & scarabs were even more retarded then in BW. Scarab got stuck at anything. They are still dumb, but a bit smarter at least ^^


Lots of small balance changes, bug fixes, new upgrades etc!



As of right now, this has been published on EU only. But as soon as possible I have it up on NA as well!

I didn't test it or anything, just played a few games: Marines are way too strong (TvT) and shuttles are too fast, though it was still fun (:

I feel that you can get waaaaay too many forcefields off with just a few templar, and they're larger than normal too. On top of this, you can storm straight off warp in. I'm not going to say it's "OP" because I haven't played that many matches going for templar tech, but it just doesn't feel right.

So I just got out of a big Starbow session with a friend, it played out very well. The game was built for heavy Macro and Micro. Strategy and positioning was always a factor, and any army could win in any fight if used well. Sadly, only 1 map is updated on US T.T but it was still fun none-the-less.

A couple of things:

Stargates are bugged, they look like they are producing units even when they aren't.

I think High Templar should be faster. Maybe I'm just bad, but I think they serve too important a use as casters to be that slow. If I want FFs, I can't have them, and the same wait for storms in regular SC2 is still there.

Also, I think Warp Gate should be cheaper, or faster, or both. Warp gates serve an important purpose in drop strategies as well as reinforcing, and since regular gateways are faster, Warp Gate is never something to get, until you realize that you actually need it.

I for one thought that the Protoss game was really slow, but maybe that's just because I'm at a Gold-Platinum skill level.

Also, maybe work on getting maps that are more easily expanded on? I only had access to Eastern Odyssey, and that map IMO is not good for expanding. The game is either gonna end on 2base or I fall behind because I'm so paranoid about expanding sometimes. I just personally feel that that map is not the best, maybe I'm just an idiot for not expanding.

Overall, it's an excellent mod and I love playing this. Hopefully NA can get a community of this going, it deserves way more attention than it gets.

Regarding Queens, I once had the idea to allow them to deploy. They can only deploy on Creep. Deploying a Queen removes combat abilities. A deployed Queen spawns up to 3 Larva just like a Hatchery does.

This way you have the choice between a macro Hatchery (strong structure, research upgrades, mutate into higher tiers) and building Queens (half the cost of Hatchery but costs supply, less health, is mobile, can fight, and can deploy to function as a smaller Hatchery)

Imagine a Zerg base with a handful of Queens in deployed position, creating Larva just like a Hatchery does. When enemies come you can undeploy them and have the Queens join the fight.

I'm not sure about Creep Tumor and Transfusion though. Sometimes it feels the poor Queen has so many roles she must attend to. Early base defence, anti-air, expanding creep, healing wounded AND creating Larva one way or another. Give her a break T__T

I'm gonna try out your mod in a second, I have always ears about modifying Zerg because well, I feel like they can be so much more.

Wow, I really like what you did to the Infestor. I'm quite unimpressed with the Infestor as a spellcaster, so making it an artillery piece with a Nydus Worm summon is very nice!

Liking the Queen eggs, funny how it seems to work so well.

Overall, pretty good. Keep it up!
