You should not get the same amount for betting correctly a minute before the loser calls gg at 25min as someone who bets at the 7min mark. Yeah, you're actually punished for betting early. Betting early = possible loss. Not betting = no loss. Betting just before GG = guaranteed win. Maybe start a timer after each bet wave and if a player GGs before the timer expires, null the bet. Then just give earlier bet waves more weight than later bet waves.

- Betting on round 1 gives you 30% bonus on return for that portion of your bet, round 2 => 20%, round 3 => 10% - When you bet, it will save this in your local bank, so if you leave a game, you still lose your chips and those chips are still available as payout to other players who do not leave. Currently when you leave you take your bet with you. - When you bet, there's a "gg" cooldown on that bet. If someone GG's before that timer runs out, the bet does not get placed. This is going to add some complexity to the system and I'm not sure how to convey this through the UI. I suppose for the "GG" cooldown, I could just have a [SYS] message inform the user "Your last bet was made too close to GG, and therefore did not get placed". Does anyone have any ideas about how to convey the Bonus for betting earlier in a non-invasive way that makes it clear that it's an incentive for newbs? Also, any other ideas while we're talking about betting?

I don't know if this is necessary since you can only bet in 7min intervals already. This is not related to bets, but is it possible to disable bling (e.g. territorial markers) on an individual basis? When someone has a lot of bling, it gets really distracting, but most people just use default settings. Edit: Second suggestion. Can you make it so that you don't automatically cash all your chips when you leave? For people who are in to high risk/high reward. ![]()

I'm in EU. A few month ago there were always people playing KOTH on Metalopolis. But Metalapolis was removed some weeks ago, I believe. The last weeks, I haven't been able to play at all. I choose the most popular map, and wait for like 15 minutes, but only one or two players joins the lobby, but leave after a few minutes. I have tried on maps that aren't the most popular too.

When the bets are locked, say "Round X bet placed. You've bet Y on Z." If the bets are cancelled, have a line in the round winnings dialog that shows amounts refunded in addition to win/loss.

Each observer would choose what he thought was the % chance to win for their favorite using a slider (Player A 100%---------50---------100% Player B) I would have a fixed bet size, not determined by the player (100) maybe an option to double your bet once per game The two (or 1 for small games) Obs who most favored either player would get to bet at the odds they chose. So, if there are 6 observers and they think that Player A will win 25, 33, 35, 38, 40, 50% respectively, Obs1 would bet on player B, getting 1:3 (33 profit), Obs2 would bet on player B getting 1:2 (50 profit), Obs5 would bet on player A getting 3:2 (150 profit) and Obs6 would bet on player A getting 1:1(100 profit). Obs 3 and 4 would not bet anything. Also the bettors should get a bonus, something like +10% for Obs 2 and 5 in the example and +25% for Obs 1 and 6. I don't know if this makes any sense to other people, I am a professional gambler so this stuff is intuitive for me and i can describe it in greater detail. The main qualities that a betting system should have are to reward the people who make the most accurate predictions and to make the process of making an accurate prediction fun. I think using a % to win instead of a binary win/loss prediction is essential to achieving this. Also, I would get away from the idea of winning other people's chips directly, it's much easier to balance a system if you can set the odds yourself and the system should be positive-sum anyways, at least with decent players.

Ayahuasca: First, awesome name. Second, I think I like this betting slider idea. I don't fully grasp it yet but I'll definitely be thinking about this.

Also I was wondering if we could have the betting system scale to some degree or individualize it based on how much you're betting. Too many times you see players legitimately betting on the favored player and suddenly you have 1 guy bet like $10 on the underdog. The idea of "betting with better odds because its the underdog" kind of stops the betting from being fun at all when this happens. You're risking $1000 for a 6-way split cut of $10. It would just be nice if someone who tried to bet that low only had a shot at maybe winning 5x their bet or something. Still really good odds for betting on the underdog, but at least force them to bet realistically and not getting 60:1 odds for no risk. That being said, I absolutely love peep mode maps and I'm so glad you guys added that ladder system. Its like being able to ladder outside your league at will. Any plans to reset it with seasons or something? Also any plans to expand the "bling" section with additional rewards in the various tiers? It makes a really for a really cool reward system for diligent practicing.

The Peep rating system is based on Sonas rating system, which is not meant to be reset, but is meant to approximate one's skill within the global population of players. As time goes on and more players play each other, the figures become more accurate. Your Peep rating could theoretically approach 2400 after playing several thousand games and winning against the best players. This takes a long time. Hence, I have no intention of ever resetting the Peep rating...players should just keep working on it. Eventually I may add a mechanism to see your overall ranking by uploading your bank file to peepmode.com. I am looking to improving the betting system to make it more engaging. The bling section does get updated periodically with new items and that will continue in the future, especially with HotS content. ![]()

Its the mark of a good map-maker! I know the league issue is pretty impossible to keep people honest. Its basically just up to us to spam-check everybody in the lobby before the game starts.
