So I often got the problem that I don't really know what textures I want to use. Usually there's maybe 2 or 3 textures in the texture set that I don't like or don't fit in for the motto of the map. Usually I would just make a stripe of every texture and change through all the sets but I kinda got tired of it so I created a small chart.
I'm not even sure if anyone else has that problem too, maybe I can help someone and else there's no harm done.
As promised you can find the chart for the cliff types here. As you may know you can use 4 different cliff types at once. Like for changing textures inside the current tileset you just go to Map -> Map Textures -> Modify -> Cliff where you can use the "Add Value.." symbol to add cliff types from other tilesets. So without further ado:
This goes along with my texture catalog. This exact thing you have here was requested in there (maybe it's first thread), but I never got around to it.

Oh I totally didn't know about that thread. Sorry man. But thanks for linking, probably gonna use that too the next couple days
And no, it's not exactly the same order as you get it in the editor. Stuff messes up if you change it a couple times^^ Well that is if you were talking about the Textures themselfes, the set's are in right order (just alphabetical.)
Thanks for this! Been using Barrin's thread too recently, but when you want to scout a texture and you're not quite sure what you're looking for, this is great for quickly finding something that could work. Cheers!
Hey, so while working on a map I noticed that I really neet a different type of cliff than the one that's set to the particular tileset. However trying through all the existing tilesets to find the best fitting one is a really ong task so I decided to create another chart, this time containing the cliff types of every tileset. It's arranged in alphabetical order, also used in the first chart / the editor. You can find it in the OP.
Nice. I hope you posted this on SC2Mapster as well, since it makes a bit more sense.
Man, that is so any textures though! it seems hard to compare or select when looking at such a huge grid. You'd almost need to make an interactive program where you could freely move the pieces around like puzzle pieces, and have the option to snap-to-grid or not snap-to-grid— that would act like an artist's palette.

Hey FlopTurnReaver I just realized that it the different textures are sort-of obscuring the real color of the cliff types. I mean it would be much easier to see if every sub-picture in the picture was using the same texture so you could really compare the colors of the different types. I mean you still can now, but I'm 100% sure it would be easier if all of the textures were the same.
I recommend Xil Dirt (simply because it's very white thus generally high contrast).
edit: oh yeah it would take a bit more work than those other pictures. I'll do it if you don't want to :o

Yeah I thought about doing that but it just seemed like a looot of work^^ Maybe I'll look into that when I get home.
Hah. I have no intention of updating that ^ any time in the foreseeable future (1-2+ years) despite a promise I remember almost making, btw.
I find both ways of displaying the information, and even a third way with each texture being compared to a single widely-contrasting (black/white e.g. xil dirt white) to be useful, btw.
