Thunder Dome

15 player FFA


Download Map

Saw this map back in the beta, it was made by ungood. I couldn't find it published so I edited it and published it myself (if this was a no-no let me know)

This was my first thing I did in the map editor so I'm sure I screwed up in multiple places


v 1.02
-Widened Middle
-Added bridges to nats
-Fixed more minerals
-Added xel'nagal Towers

v 1.01
-Added Naturals w/ 8 patches of minerals
-Widened path to the middle
-Put Rich minerals in the thunder dome
-made all bases have 7 patches of minerals (some had 8 patches)
-texture work (they got messed up when making the nats
+ Show Spoiler +

Bugs / things to work on
- Ramp color is off
- Add xel'naga towers
- Wider Middle / need more room for ground units


If you have any feedback/suggestions Lemme know!

If you have any ideas how to do 16 player instead of just 15 player please tell me
If I make the 0'th (neutral) person a player then all the minerals/gas/rocks belong to them

That whole map is a no-no imo.

And it's not possible to use 16 player slots afaik. Not sure though.

Just Played the map w/ AI - very fun
Didn't have any problems with the FPS...

and Yeah you can only use 15 players (the minerals, gas and rocks are controlled by the 16th)

1 base will be open, giving it an unfair advantage for the player spawning close to it.
The map doesn't have much room for movement either.

I think you should try to come up with something better, that gives noone an advantage and has more room for ground movement.

Any base without a person is filled up with destructible rocks and the minerals/gas are removed

I was thinking of making the middle wider for ground units?

Everything is small, Zerg will have a hard time surrounding.

And removing the Minerals and Gas doesn't change much, since that person won't have to fight anyone else that is closeby unlike everyone else. He can take the natural aswell without a fight.

Wow you guys are such haters. This map is awesome and obviously not meant for serious competitive play. It's like complaining that bloodbath is too small.

Does anyone (with a comp that can handle it) want to have a sick 3v3v3v3 on thunderdome during christmas break time?? I've wanted to play this map since beta but never had the opportunity ;{

maybe we can do a tournament style with multiple teams if we get many people??

Do you mean 3v3v3v3 with random start locations? So, you win if all other teams are eliminated, but you might be far away from teammates?

Also thunderdome to me says FFA, there should both! I'll be keeping an eye on this to see if something gets scheduled. =D

i would like random starting locations ( like in BW) because the game's more exciting for me when i see people fight off 1v3 rushes (even though it's a lot harder to do in sc2 because you can't drone drill)... but it looks like there are rocks blocking each main? anyways random locations shouldn't be too bad because the main bases aren't shared
