All engines have their bugs and ways of doing things. The Galaxy Engine/Editor has its layout, and other engines will have different ones.

(I'm thinking like in photoshop you can select an image, grab the corner point, hold down shift and shrink or enlarge it evenly.) Anyway to do that in sc2 map editor with terrain by chance?

it's always a razor's edge toying with sizes, borders and such in some cases it's a drag, but starting from the proper size from the start is always advisable good luck with it tho (importing a picture you've done is cool) edit: responses to posts underneath: @forelmashi : don't give up... never surrender=hero hold on mode mac don't = pc, that's an axiom (blizz is nice enough i suppose, they could have dropped us altogether) i really need to understand what u need in order to try helping u out @SidianTheBard i do regret i have not come across any of that.. tophoshop rules all! on the other hand you might be able to copy paste your design on a new smaller map (going from one map to the other (remember to save) could/should work, might be slow (set settings on low!) or re do the "picture import" trick with what you had with the big map edit2: iGrok: "shrinking the map by "pushing the borders inward and redoing it bit by bit with tons of minor edits" it does not f..k up the map to go about it that way only, however playing around (more then less to the left / to the right for left side...for instance) is not advised still + Show Spoiler + say "redoing" from bottom is best, you KNOW what you're doing, it's easy as pie and quick to boot

Is that possible? Or would I have to completely start a new map?

reference to: scrap station. Whenever I make a patch of man-made cliff, if the ground where i'm clicking is empty (lowest level) it instantly fills with normal ground and in the center a man-made cliff. I tried changing textures from natural cliffs to man-made cliffs, but I need both; reference to: scrap station again.

You have to add a space man-made cliff into your map textures. Map->Map Textures->Modify->Cliffs->Hit the green button->Select Braxis Alpha Manmade cliffs->Back to Map Textures->Click a cliff button->Select new cliff type->Ok. You may have to switch the cliff types around after doing this.

1. Can you lower terrain without grabbing the terrain walls. sort of like how you can make paint texture just on one layer. or do i just have to be really REALLY careful? 2. How do i make sure my map preview screen has the effects/fog on and not just in the "editing" mode. (example if it were a space map the background would not just be black on the map preview.)

I don't know, and I wish the map previews would have better resolution as well ![]()

It says in the doodad options 'Ignore placing requirements' (or something close) , so if you tick that , you can also place them in a ditch or somewhere you wouldnt usually be able to place them. Like for instance a 2x2 on a 1x1 platform. Does placing doodads like this affect in any way how the game loads the map? I cant imagine it does, but before I fill up my lowest level areas outside the buildingarea, i better make sure ![]() It's fine to use Ignore Placement Requirements. The only thing you need to be careful with is how it affects the pathing - as in, the squares it thinks are blocked by the doodad can be significantly off-centre. So keep an eye on the pathing view when you do this. If the pathing on a particular doodad is causing problems, you can tick "Don't use doodad footprint" and instead paint the pathing manually. But if you're using Ignore Placement in areas where pathing doesn't matter (outside playable area, etc) then it really doesn't matter, just go for it ![]() EDIT: Oh and, you can also hold down SHIFT when moving a doodad around, and it will automatically make it ignore placement requirements.

1. View-Entire map 2. ' T ' 3. ' ESC ' 4. (Select the half of the map you want to mirror by click-dragging a box) 5. ' CTRL+C ' 6. ' CTRL+V ' 7. To mirror it Vertically, press ' ALT+, ', to mirror horizontally press ' ALT+. ', to rotate 180 degrees press ' * ' on the numpad twice. 8. Move mouse so that the box covers the other half of the map (not the part you worked on) 9. Click 10. See how far off from center you were. 11. Press ' CTRL+Z ' 12. Repeat Steps 6-11 until you get it right Hope this helps ![]()
