Decided I might try to work on a map over the next few weeks but I have a question. What's the standard size for maps? The last map I made was a little bit smaller than daybreak which was too small.

I remember Snute had started to make a map at some point in 2014 (you can find it by searching in his twitter if you have the courage to do so, he tweeted a pic of his map). I don't have any other case in mind right now, neither in BW nor SC2.

I understand it must be frustrating to have put so much effort in the HMH and DH mods, only to realize that a much simpler solution exists. But in time I hope you will let go and join the GEMmers.

Hi! Is there a way to make a whole map blank (like when you first start a new map) all on the second cliff level without just going over the whole thing with the raise cliff tool?

I haven't found one. I find it doesn't take too long if you use a giant brush. You can also save a template with that already done, but then you need to change the map size and tileset

Just ask here what you want to do and we will supply or redirect.
1/You want to do a mod not a map.
You will then apply this mod to maps easily.
If you wish to rearrange or change /vary the actual units, you will have to do a map everytime, this will not be do able any other way (you will still apply your mod if applicable).
2./You want to change simple or complex tasks performed by the workers.
You will have to change the abilities/behaviours involved or channel your changes through triggers.
3/You will need to test it. Ask for testers here in a thread.
4/etc
If you make it on out alive from mapster or never dare to search there and wish for us to help, we will!
There are plenty of people that have gone through what you are doing, rest assured it won't be short and probably will be nasty and tasty. But you won't be alone. eliza will be there to comfort you.
Edit: you do realize no editor for lotv is yet available. There is/was a lotv mod in hots...

What are pathing cliff fills for?

I want to remove the passive ability Tissue Regeneration from the Mutalisk, but I can't find it anywhere in the editor :S When I place some Mutalisks and test the map, it's like they out of nowhere gain this passive ability icon and the increased health regen. It's making me think there's some sort of Blizzard patch in the background overwriting whatever I'm modding in the first place, but that can't be right, right?

//found it, my Dependencies were a mess and I had to save and reload to get them proper.

So I've always wanted to try out a map with mineral-only expansions, and was wondering if a mineral-only nat would be too detrimental to a certain race, i.e. not enough sentries for Protoss, or too strong early game for Terran. I know Blizzard is opting for all standard bases, but I don't see too much of a disadvantage that couldn't be made up for in the middle of the map. Like a base setup that favors T/P could have more open centers so Zerg could make up the difference with engagements.

But what about a more conservative option with a map somewhat in the style of Bridgehead or BW's Loki II, but with the backdoor expo being mineral only, and having a second "natural" either in the proper place like in Loki or not too far away like in Bridgehead that has all the correct resources?

So you could turtle on 3 bases but forgo the 3rd gases, or take more dangerous bases (maybe a triple gas base in places where you could otherwise put a gold base) for additional gases.

Having a template before you start is indeed a life saver.
Have you tried making an "empty" template map (on the second cliff level) and copy pasting that unto your map?
(Do note that you would activate only terrain layer before copying.)

Mineral only expos, gas only expos, as a matter of fact indeed many different expo resources layout experiments have been showcased and disingenuously disregarded / slushed aside from the "melee illusory balance kid papier maché fort" that is tl.
Not by my doing.
