I think the new dynamics of SC2 suited some players worse than others. And one of them was undoubtedly Tyler -- who was always more of a management type of player with perfect build order execution and just... perfect economy management in general.
When I look at the most succesful players in SC2, they all have the following in common:
They spend like 90% of their time staring at their army (through streamlining their play and effictivizing actions they buy themselves the time to do what actually has the most effect in SC2: moving and microing your army looking for a superior engagement).
Look at someone like stephano and you will be amazed at how much time he spends ordering his army around and... simply staring at his and his opponents army... setting up favorable position after position after position until his opponents finally lose their patience.
When you watch Tyler and others stream (including me to a degree), we spend way too much time on the management side of things. Especially Tyler when I've viewed his stream -- won't move around his army a whole lot. He relies on his build orders and his execution of said build orders (which tbh doesn't give much of an edge anymore in SC2).
Don't take this as bashing but rather as constructive criticism. Economy and Production management is... not effective to focus on in SC2. Relentless army movement, constant prodding and constant positioning and re-positioning is what will reward you.
You gain very little in ways of economy or army leads by merely being good at perfect management. Which is a shame for certain really talented players like ret and tyler (even ret has said he has a really hard time playing the BL/Infestor style, because his engagement skills are just inherently worse than some of the top zergs').
