Sheth didn't break any contract with FXO, Puma never had one with TSL, Most player transfers have been teams buying out another team, (VT, fOu, coL etc..) Or players not under a contract simply switching teams. (Fruitdealer et al) The only one who I can think of that actually broke a deal with Destiny, and he really just reneged on something he signed like 2 days before. Like any sport, players get traded and moved, and if someone's contract is up, they're basically a free agent. I think it's great that Sheth is joining Liquid, I don't think he's broken any contract to do this. In any other professional sport if a player is under contract they are expected to do there job until the contract is terminated. In some cases player's are released and in some player's quit. It seems in esports (perhaps just sc2 as i don't follow other's) that in both cases there are never any consequence for either party (player, coach or manager). It may not matter to player or team that people jump from team to team like this but after following other professional sports and being involved with others this does look very unprofessional. It looks like contracts don't exist or are indeed meaningless. It makes the sport look unprofessional, like it is just a bunch of kids playing video games. I think the reason for this is the lack of an organisation overseeing the sport. Although another topic I do believe this is the underlying reason. Every professional sport has a governing body that makes sure contracts are upheld, participants are looked after, transfer windows are enforced and the list goes on. Im not trying to hate on the community or indeed Sheth or team Liquid. But after following the sport for only a few months it is difficult to take the professional side seriously with the lack of professionalism within. If you want to attract big sponsors and big money that it would have to change as i'm sure that people within big business would have the same concerns. Let's say a sponsor was tempted to give to team liquid because of the Sheth signing, they have no guarantee that he will not just walk out on this team. And i'm not saying Sheth will its just an example, same thing could be said for any big name on any team. Why sponser that team because of that player, if the player can just change to another team over night? | ||
