Hmm, so I take it from reading this thread that people don't like the new caster too much? I was skeptical but I didn't find her horrible. Her accent takes a little to get used to but I think she's acceptable...
and OMG HUK WON. I stayed up to watch the games last night, even though I had an early class today, and about 12 minutes before the thing went live my internet died. Ugh. So stoked that he made it. YOU CAN DO IT HUK. Do it for Canada ;D

Whooo, go HuK! Canada represent!

Excellent write-up. Thanks for the interview.

Hero status. That's a pretty bold claim to make if he is talking about her, because she barely has 150 games on her account, which is no higher than plat and made a ton of simply wrong calls today. Teamliquid.net, on the other hand, is the base for the most hardcore sc fans there are, many of them starcraft/broodwar veterans of several years. And most of the criticism was valid and not just shit talk. Maybe he meant something else, so a statement like that doesn't have to detract from his esteem (?) just yet. He's probably specifically thinking of certain very popular casters who couldn't ladder to gold if their lives depended on it. That's my best guess anyway. You mean like Husky? Dude Husky's Diamond, HD's high masters. Play against them and you'll see. Just sayin'... Both those guys come from BW where Husky was SUCH a major fan and loves the game a lot. People love to assume shit about people without any background info I guess... Not to derail the thread - I'd have just sent you a pm - but you chose to address and attack me personally, so I have little choice. I apologize. But you might want to stick to your own advice. I've been one of Husky's first thousand subscribers back when he was still doing bw and donated 20€ (I think?) to him back when he was out to replace his broken, duct-tape fixed headset+get a digital camera. And I'm a Starcraft player of 12 years and diamond peep myself, even though I'm not exactly playing the game at all. Diamond and low masters also is the lower end of decent players and even though HD and Husky might be that high up, their strategic commentary is far from being on the same level as Tasteless (and it is not their style).

Yeah Huk. Dominate code A. HUK FIGHTING!!!!!

Great interview. Love his explanation for the ceremony and totally agree with him.
In game 1, the early +1 attack was so huge, he would've gotten crushed and been in big trouble without it.
|
So glad for HuK, great to see him do well.
However his "Ceremony" doesn't change the fact that the commentary left a lot to be desired. She may know more than a lot of other commentators, but that doesn't mean she's any better IMO

I am an even bigger HuK fan after these two games. If that is possible. I really hope to see him live up to the skill that he demonstrates on stream and at Assembly. His mechanics and speed have progressed dramatically during his stay in Korea. It is really satisfying to see a non-Korean be able to maintain such a fast pace without loosing focus on the small things (harass, balancing bases with workers, army spacing, scouting, etc.) I actually feel like the casters are not giving many of these small things justice sometimes (the obs catches it on cam, yet nick and company usually fail to catch it).

dude needs to work out before he tries acting all tough lmao i dun care how good you are at a game

That reply is gross for a number of reasons. Huk's comment was about people who act fake and talk tough on the internet, but would be too afraid to say it real life. It isn't like he was making a physical threat, just expressing disgust towards comments exactly like yours. Did you actually make an account JUST to type that terrible wreck of a sentence on the forum? Yikes man.
Edit: I could barely type my reply before the ban hammer came down. God damn I love TL.

i'm more interested in HuK making his way to the up/down matches than all of Code S. good luck huk.

HOORAY FOR Huk!!! I'm so glad we got more TL guys in the GSL woot woot

notice how he said 90% of commentators and not 90% of players

That guy is the closest to professional/mainstream casters we have. He lacks insight, but strategic commentators like Day[9] or Artosis are only one end of the spectrum and rather specialized. Husky is on the other end, hugely entertaining imo, and if you can trust his record. Might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's the most important characteristic.
I agree and seriously wish people would stop hating on Husky. In fact, Husky is the entire reason that I am now watching SC2 on a regular basis.
Let me explain. I didn't follow BW, and hadn't played a video game (console or computer) for like 7 years. (Yeah, I am old, like 28!) I was surfing around YouTube one day last summer, and this thing called the HDH Invitational was on the front page. I remembered Starcraft pre-expansion from when I was in high school, so I decided to watch a game or two, and then I got hooked.
I am not kidding, I had no idea that SC2 was being releasing and knew none of the players. Now I watch Day[9] and GSL, and listen to SoTG, and post on TL.
Give Husky the credit he deserves and leave it at that, no need to hate.
