*Edit* - I have a niggling suspicion that Huk was talking about the incident where Incontrol and Gretorp re-streamed the GSL and trash talked etc. He wasn't talking about comments on forums etc.
------------------------------------------------------------- about Huk referencing the commentary.
its not YET about how much knowledge the person has, because the person can't even speak english properly (or type). If the person speaks decently like Jason Lee but yet doesnt know enough, that's a different matter.
No doubt the new girl knows some. but you need to respect the audience and speak/pronounce words properly so that the words are not jarring to the ears. its not even about accent.
The job is for a GSL commentator (not caster), not someone to teach a bronze player how to get to platinum.
but 1 good thing has come out of this, Tasteless has stepped up in his commentary. All the new caster has to do is look pretty, talk less, stop calling hellions race cars and pronounce Ls and Rs and BLEs properly.
Look at all the flak bitbybitprime and sanszenith got from Tastosis. 2 players who got into the GSL while they didnt. I'm not gonna flame them for that. so dont be surprised by the complaints of poor commentary because we all have 1 thing in common, we want the GSL to be better and therefore anything of lower quality should not be harboured. Be it 1 trick pony all-in players or bad commentating. If you don't wanna be eliminated, you should improve asap.
and i dont understand why ppl have been talking bad about HUK. seems a nice likable fella unlike Idra

Huk the Canadian hero you do us proud!
Also couldn't agree more with your last statement. You're such a standup guy. I'll be cheering for you (like always)

Haters gonna hate HuK, keep going and win Code A like your capable of

Basically people need to stop talking so much shit. It's funny now as I'm doing this interview, I'm reading up on TL about some immature jokes, or people complaining about a commentator who probably knows more about the game then 90% of the other commentators out there. I don't know, maybe its just me but I really hate fake people who just like to talk shit or play games.
Not to be chiming in, but KellyMilkies knows about as much about the game as TotalBiscuit. A lot of us were less "talking shit" (is it just me or does he sound like some frat boy when he talks like that?) and more showing concern that our casting duo changed from one analysis guy who knows what he's talking about and one entertainer to two entertainers who have a low diamond understanding of the game. Now I agree with him that despite her lack of knowledge compared to some, she is still more knowledgeable than 90% of the other commentators, because there are a wealth of them. But she was chosen for her representation of SEA community, her participation in esports and experience in casting, and the fact that she could pay for her plane ticket to go. She was not chosen for her excellent knowledge of SC2. So it is fair to criticize GomTV for picking someone for obviously superficial reasons.

It seems that we must suffer through Huk's Bieber-cut for a while longer, unfortunately. Huk may have solid mechanics and excellent game sense, but he certainly lacks a taste for proper hairstyle. Many thanks for this interview.
dude he's rocking the white guy equivalent of a bw progamer hairstyle, dont know what your beef is.

FYI, this is Singaporean English and they all speak like this every day, it would be like asking a British guy to talk like he was from Texas. Yes its takes some time to get used to the way she speaks, but give her a break. I´ve lived in Singapore and I promise you, a lot of them are fare more difficult to understand.
Great interview btw

Huk is such a hero, love what his ceremony meant. He played some entertaining starcraft, hoping he'll make it far
|
i will say that when huk didnt make it to gsl 3 i wasnt surprised. i didnt think he was very good at all in comparison with top level pros. but watching him lately, obviously as a result of living in the ogs house, he was vastly improved through hard work and become, in my opinion, at least a code s player. good luck huk with winning code a

Huk played well, and I've always been a big fan of his...
But the ceremony thing...and here I thought that it was maybe against some Koreans or something that had talked shit about him.
But it's about ordinary TL-ers? Who've never even said anything against HuK himself? And were just concerned about enjoying games that they've loved since they were kids?
...
A little too much whiteknighting IMO.

Great interview btw ![](/mirror/smilies/smile.gif) Except that neither the Texan accent nor Singlish are standard English or even close to it. At least in my country professional commentators & news anchors etc are expected to speak the so to be considered accent/dialect free form of the language and they do. And as I see it GSL and their casters are a professional institution, so your comparison doesn't hold up, unless you want to establish that GSL does not aspire to such standards, which would alienate many of their fans, but justify their decision.

I hope Hayder 2-0's his opponent so the overall morale remains high!
Gl HuK!
