You may have noticed that articles in our News section now have small social sharing icons at the bottom of the opening post. These icons will allow you to easily share the news with your facebook friends, twitter followers or submit / vote on it at reddit. In addition to sharing on these social sites, TL itself has accounts on facebook, twitter and youtube that you may be interested in.
Facebook Our facebook page has condensed versions of our site news as well as smaller topics that might not normally be newsworthy. You can "Like" Team Liquid and become part of over 7,000 other facebook fans. There is a photo gallery featuring TL Community pictures and meetings with famous pro-gamers.
Twitter - twitter.com/teamliquidnet The Team Liquid twitter account lets you keep up to date with news and events no matter where you are - just follow @TeamLiquidNet for the latest updates from our site. During some offline events where we have staff present, @TeamLiquidNet will be used to provide live updates for news and game results from the event floor as they happen. You may see the TL Twitter feed embedded into certain news posts depending on the event.
YouTube - youtube.com/teamliquidnet Our YouTube account has all of our video content from both our coverage of events and the events that we run. Check it out and subscribe for coverage of North American LAN events, TL Open, Liquipedia video guides, highlight videos, TL Attack! and more. The teamliquidnet youtube is for SC2 and nevake is for BW.
If you want to help TL get more exposure and keep yourself updated with our latest news and videos we would appreciate it if you would Like, Follow, or Subscribe to our social media sites. A lot of sponsors are interested in social media and with your support we will be able to attract bigger sponsors and host larger events.
This is awesome! I've been wondering if you guys were going to add those little buttons. I think I saw it in the suggestions/feedback thread or whatever they were called. Glad to see it was able to be implemented!
I hate how these stupid buttons start popping up on every single site on the interwebz. So incredibly useless and RHGHGRHG.
I like that you keep trying to improve this site, but I have a personal aversion against these .. things.
TL keeps going the direction of all the other main stream gaming sites
I don't get why TL needs "more exposure", it's not a commercial site, is it? TL has always been a small but tight community, but this will just further loosen that up.
and i thought i was going crazy when i saw this i swear one second the fb/yt/twitter icons weren't there and i noticed the new tlaf graphic. i go to another thread and there's these fb/yt/twitter icons there! i thought i was insane
but now it all makes so much sense! teamliquid with social media integration!!
Only thing we need now is something equivilent to an orange envelope when someone quotes/responds to you in a thread on TL. Have been missing that so much after I started using reddit. There are probably lots of threads where people have responded to my comments that I was unable to respond to myself because I never saw the thread again

When Battle.net does it, it's EVIL, but when TL does it, it's ok?

i'm sorry that i don't like facebook or twitter?

If you actually used Facebook or twitter(or visited, dont need an account to read twitter feeds) you would know that all kinds of people use them. But you dont, so you dont know anything what you're talking about so here is a tip: dont talk about what you dont know, makes you look silly(which goes for anyone talking about what they dont know whatever it may be).

well for one its fine that you dont use facebook or twitter, just dont assume that because TL is incorporating integration for these service that all of a sudden its a bad thing. if you dont use them then why do you care?
and 2 you are incredibly narrow minded to think that everyone who uses facebook or twitter is a 14 yo girl with add. artosis posted twitter updates so we could follow GSL qualifiers, and everyone and their mom uses facebook as a way to keep in touch.

you dont need a fb account to know that its all about data mining for many people who want to keep their privacy thats more reason than enough :=).

Well I can assure you everyone but a few would be ok if Blizzard had made facebook integration after chat channels and other things in higher demand. You cant really say TL is slacking on content, can you.
If the Heads of TL thinks these buttons will increase exposure to sponsors thus bringing more money thus supporting our own progamers in Korea and many TL run tournaments I believe thats justified (even if I dont use twitter)
And I didnt know about TL.net SC2 youtube channel so thats very nice find for me.
Roughly 6 months ago, I was also a twitter hater, but after using it for half a year now or so, I've come to realize how fantastic it is. Getting constant SC2 updates from the players themselves, job offers from game developers and live news from all different sources is actually sweet as hell.
There's more than LadyGaga fans and 13yo idiots using it. For those that followed Artosis GSL qualifier updates, you should know.
without twitter, the gsl prelim will be 100x less epic. For those complaining that TL is supposed to be a tight community, look at how tight everyone felt in those live report threads. I can somehow feel thousands of over TL.net users gasping their breath and F5-ing together with me when Artosis tweeted " HERE WE GO" just before Huk's final battle. Day9 and Hotbid included.
Youtube also brought us the awesome interviews and news and streams. Anyway if you guys don't like it, it won't bother you too much.
In any case, thanks R1CH and the TL staff for the hard work.
This is pretty awesome. You guys have it set up so that it's only updates going out to those sites, and as such people should still be coming here just as regularly to participate in discussions.

Totally agree. I really spammed F5 on artosis twitter the other day. ^_^ Good stuff!

They're not doing the same thing.
Not that what b.net did was bad, people were just scared that everyone could see them through facebook.

This pretty much. I detest people who can't refrain from using fb and find their reasons for using it rather ridiculous, but a lot of people do it nontheless and thus a lot of publicity is to be gained for people offering a service or product.
Youtube is entertaining while twitter condenses various streams of information to your own. I use both of them and they are really informative.
Good to see TL making progess (not that I thought TL was lacking in any way).

which I don't have, but I am pretty sure they are out there. I don't like it that much, but it simply doesn't affect me besides that these shiny buttons everywhere annoy me. But I really don't care enough. As long as it is good for TL and SC2, I am fine.
Youtube and Twitter I have absolutely nothing against. Facebook on the other hand...eeeeh.
Oh well, I subscribed, liked and I will definitely follow these and help spread the word (Which I've done already to several of my friends). Good luck!
And also, what does people have against Twitter really? You choose yourself whom to follow so it basicly has no down sides at all. I mean, you could choose to just follow team liquid for that matter. And remain all anonymous.

i was talking more about facebook than twitter btw, should have mentionned that, sorry.
idc about twitter, facebook is a terrible thing that should probably be killed because of multiple reasons i won't state here because this is not a debate thread.
Nevake fighting! Seriously who is it that posts up all the BW videos? If I wasn't a poor student I would totally compensate that person in some way. Huge contribution to keeping BW alive and well.
After just reading that insurance companies abuse facebook data to spy on people's risk behavior and charge higher prices for people whose facebook profile says they like extreme sports, I can only say f*** facebook. Hence, could not care less about the facebook integration. Twitter seems a good idea, though.

No, TL is not a commercial site. Maybe, just maybe it's nice to have a means to spread what you're passionate about and introduce people to the scene.
TL used to be a small, tight community, but as a whole it certainly isn't anymore. I wouldn't even have called it that when I joined.
I don't understand how this can be anything but beneficial. There is just no argument. With the influx of new users we have seen more incredible songs, pieces of art, OPs, and of course, girl blogs, than ever before. The baddies get hammered into oblivion, no big deal.
On November 19 2010 21:31 Merikh wrote: Is there a possibility to get this added to each thread?
Followed on Facebook and Youtube! I don't have a twitter, but if I ever do get one I'll make sure to follow on there too. I love the new exposure, the more people who discover this site, the better.
btw the facebook policy about uploaded videos is much more loose than the rules in youtube. A friend of mine uploads regularly TV shows and movies in parts, so using facebook to watch videos that might get blocked or removed from youtube is a great opportunity
These social media icons and buttons are for the lowest common denominator, and for popularization. I don't think teamliquid would mind if power users blocked these.
I see how from a wider view this is a step in the right direction, however. The popularity of teamliquid is what allows it to sponsor a team, and any esports fan would like to see it grow as big as possible.
Honestly guys there's nothing wrong with facebook, you just can't give in to the culture that it pushes. You don't have to add everyone you meet, or 'like' everything you see. TL is something worth 'liking'. The more exposure TL can get the better!
The only argument I've seen against this so far is that twitter and facebook users are dumb. That isn't even an argument. It's only a good thing to spread TL and esports.
These social media sites are excellent tools. Some people have formed a prejudice against them because they've seen them misused. There's nothing inherently wrong with these tools and I'm sure TL.net will use them well and everyone will benefit.
On November 19 2010 23:38 mOnion wrote: does anyone have a legitimate argument for why this is a bad thing other than a misplaced hate for social media with no reasonable explanation?
it tilts me so hard when people say "sad to see this" just because it targets a demographic they're not a part of.
either its a good thing, or it doesn't affect you. those are the only options.
It's the way some people feel, I fail to see how their thoughts on this affect you so much. It's either a good thing or it doesn't affect you, their dislike doesn't affect you at all so why keep inquiring about it?

Anyone who attempted to follow the GSL qualifiers or Blizzcon SC2 tournament should be able to back this up. Twitter is way more useful for up to the minute news about things like un-broadcasted tournament games than any other form of media. Forum posts get drowned out/are difficult to make from a mobile device and news posts don't get made until the whole story is known, but you can count on the TL twitter account, Artosis, or someone else to make a quick tweet about what's going on.
To clear up some confusion that some of you have, there is no "integration" of facebook at all. All you are seeing is an image that links to the facebook sharing URL. Facebook can't "track" you visiting TL or anything like that. I purposefully avoided using any buttons / links that required loading any javascript that could interact with the page - in fact, the reddit button has more "integration" than facebook since it lets you vote on submissions without leaving TL.

I refreshed Artosis' religiously during GSL, and if more pro players start using twitter that's definitely something I'd follow.
Either way even if you don't like on the spot insight from pro players or immediate updates from Artosis, it doesn't really hurt you that it exists. Twitter has its uses and a lot of people on TL enjoy it for those reasons. We don't all follow random hollywood celebrities talking about how they just went grocery shopping.. There's a lot of valuable SC2 stuff on there that is very relevant to the community here.
The key thing is that even if none of these things are for you is that looking at some icons should not bother anyone, and the knowledge that there are others who enjoy it can only help.

ya i have never really looked at twitter much but after reading that it seems very reasonable.
Don't be friend with your mom on facebook...and fuck what others think about TL if you're embarrased of it you shouldn't even be playing sc2 in the first time..i'm dissapointed
I do find it a bit amusing a few months ago everyone was mocking Blizzard for Facebook integration, and now Team Liquid has it and it's hailed as the greatest thing ever.
Not that I mind either way, more exposure to TL is good.

Please read the thread before posting. There is NO, I repeat, NO Facebook integration. Let me quote Rich from the previous page (is it really to much to ask to read at least the last two pages of comments before reacting??). So as you can see the situation between Blizzard and TL is very different.

I would hardly call the user reaction to our facebook page "the greatest thing ever," and I wouldn't label a fan page on facebook as "integration." I think a lot of people are so eager to point out hypocrisy that they find it even when it's not there.
Please refer to R1CH's post, it should clarify the TL's situation with Facebook.

There's a distinction to be made between a site whose sole purpose is to facilitate community and information embracing social media, compared with a game developer who's #1 priority as expected by fans is to make games.
