[SC2B] Weekly Round-Up #1
![[image loading]](http://www.teamliquid.net/staff/Kennigit/WeeklyRoundUp/WEEKLYROUNDUPBIG.png) By BroOd and heyoka
Welcome to the inaugural edition of the SC2 Weekly Round-up. The Round-up will be your source for all current information in the world of Starcraft II. We’ll be gathering information from all around the net to bring you the most important updates in tournaments, community news and Blizzard dispatches.
Strap in, Marty, we’re about to take this baby to 88.
![[image loading]](http://www.teamliquid.net/staff/Kennigit/WeeklyRoundUp/TOURNAMENTS.png)
If you're interested in keeping up to date on the goings on in tournament land, then look no further. As with Brood War, we are dedicated to bringing you complete coverage straight to your home so relax, chill out, and read on for information on how your favorite players are doing.
The Starcraft 2 Beta competitive scene is as busy as ever. This weekend we saw several large tournaments begin, and one take a major step towards the finish line. For many events you can find complete information under Liquipedia's fantastic tournament portal, such as replays and vods.
HDH Invitational
Popular commentators HuskyTheHusky and HDStarcraft have teamed up to run one of the largest SC2 events so far, an invitational tournament with just under $3500 up for grabs.
This most recent weekend saw the conclusion of the round of 4, with IdrA taking down NonY in 3 entertaining games that showed just zerg vs protoss is more than just massing roaches. On the other side of the bracket, White-Ra took down TheLittleOne (in a rematch of of TeamLiquid invitational) 3-2. This weekend White-Ra and IdrA will face off for the grand prize, while TLO and NonY fight for bronze.
178 Asia vs Europe Starleague
A partnership between 178.com and GosuGamers aims to up the ante on inter-continental play. With each win worth $50, and an additional $400 to the winning side, we can be sure players will be bringing their top game. The games are being cast by a Day[9] and Gretorp duo, as solid a combination as any tournament can have.
Sen loves SC, and we love Sen
This weekend the games opened up, with 2 matches being played on both Saturday and Sunday. ACE took down ZpuX and Check defeated Strelok on the opening day of play, with both matches ending in a 3-1 score. The second day of play started with Dayfly ousting Hasuobs 3-1 and Sen coming back 2 games down to beat White-Ra 3-2. An impressive 4-0 showing for Asia.
SC2CL Beta Clan Tournament
The Brood War Clan League is being reborn, as a massive tournament between nearly every SC2 clan. Play began this past weekend, where the very beginnings were played out in group stages between 33 divisions. Notable peformances include Mouz winning 4-0, mTw 3-1, vT 3-2, and our very own Liquid clan going 5-0. Full results can be found here, this one is warming up and we will be sure to keep you posted.
17173.com World Cup
This is a tournament largely consisting of Korean and Chinese players, but has several noteworthy European/Americans playing (Nazgul, TLO, White-Ra, IdrA). Qualifiers ended this weekend and the tournament proper doesn't begin for another day (the 19th), you can check out videos of some qualifying games at the link above or here.
Kaspersky Cup
A 12 player invite event, this has 8 Chinese players fighting it out for a chance to play Freedom, TLO, White-Ra, and DeMusliM in the round of 8 (this bracket is the best explanation). This isn't set up as a China-vs-the-world event, though surely once it completes people will bill it as such.
Round of 8 matches began two days ago. Freedom beat Beckham 4-1, Liquid's TLO impressively took down EricPanda 4-0, and DeMusliM won 4-1 over Macsed.
It feels like more tournaments pop up every day. We know you're busy, the modern man is being pulled in hundreds of directions all the time. We can only hope to offer some sanity among all the madness, a clean quick look at what is going on and how competition is progressing. Until next time, enjoy the view!

Check out the new TL Community section to see what’s going on in your area. Whether you’re from NY or LA, Amsterdam or Ottowa, people near you are meeting up with other TL members! Don’t see anything in your neck of the woods? Start your own thread and plan a starcraft-date with other fun dudes.
Thinking about becoming the next big SC2 pro but don’t know where to start? Work on your multitasking with stet_tsl’s Multitasking UMS map, then check out the SC2 Trainer/Trainee thread and post your details. Looking for something more dramatic? Well then pack your thermal paste and set those phasers to fun, because Incontrol and the EG guys are hosting a GosuCamp in sunny Arizona. You’ll need your wits about you as you battle nefarious zergs, heatstroke and impromptu games of grab-ass in what’s sure to be an educational and entertaining weekend with some of America’s best and most well-known gamers.
Who needds Scarlett? We have Day[9]
Looking for a more passive way of learning? Perhaps one where you can remain sedentary, daydreaming of Scarlett Johansson naked? Then try out some of the excellent audio and video streams that abound, such as Day[9].tv Daily, djWHEAT’s Weapon of Choice, JP’s State of the Game, SHOUTcraft, GosuTV, Big TV, NerdCraft or completely relaxed member orb’s Orb Knows Best. If that doesn’t satisfy your ravenous hunger (and let’s be honest, nothing ever will), head on over to our Streams List and check out any of the live or on-demand content that’s always available.
Dakota_Fanning, developer of great Brood War tools like BWHF, is back in business with his new SC2 program, SC2Gears. Dakota was well known for his constant updates and feature improvements on his BW work, so we can’t wait to see what he has in store for SC2. Also, take a look at MajicPanda’s deathchart to see some neat statistics for unit battles, and sluggaslamoo’s Project Micro to check out some sweet unit tweaks and see what may be possible with SC2 units.
![[image loading]](http://www.teamliquid.net/staff/Kennigit/WeeklyRoundUp/BLIZZARD.png) If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses – Henry Ford
Blizzard nailed us with a hard-hitting one-two combo this week, dropping both Patch 11 and Patch 12 with little regard for our health or sanity. With some major changes that will undoubtedly affect all matchups, looks like it’s back to the drawing board, gamers.
The stormy ones also dropped a bomb on us with their announcement of Facebook integration with Battle.net 2.0. With SC2 apparently launching sans chat rooms, the community is palpably upset, but it remains to be seen how SC2’s launch interface will conform to it’s users wants and needs.
Friends, Romans, countrymen, it's time to innovate
There you have it folks, week one of the Round-up. If you’ve got a tournament, stream, contest or other content you feel maybe of value to the Round-up, feel free pass it along. Until next week, Good Luck and Have Fun

I didn't realize how hard it was to keep an eye on tournaments until I tried looking up who won something recently. We should be able to go a long way towards fixing that while beta winds down.
|
Great job! Nice to have everything put together so nicely in one place. Can't wait for this to become a tradition
|
yea Idra beat Nony pretty handily, wonder if White-Ra is going to put up a better fight then Nony. Nice write-up
|
this is nice loving getting esports news mail from fragster sometimes
if u do this every week i would be so happy getting it as an email on my phone
|
You forgot one big kick in the balls news: beta ends in 2 weeks!
|

Yeah, and that therefore there will be no Gosu Camp in Arizona.

Even reading TL every day isn't enough to keep up with everything that's going on.
If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses – Henry Ford Awesome quote, even if I might not agree with it in all SC2 patching contexts.
|
Cool to see SC1 guys owning it up in SC2
|
After watching IdrA's games vs Nony from HDH, I can tell he's going to be an absolute beast.
WIth his training discipline and sAviOr to help him learn zerg on the b-team before he's off to prison, he's absolutely going to be a force to be reckoned with in SC2.

this is so useful
had a lot of trouble keeping up with the sc2 scene
|
Great read indeed,
I'd love it if it had more insight about actual strategies and BO
|
|
What's the current line-up of the Liquid clan? Naz, Nony, TLO, FA (Jinro), who else? Teamliquid traditionally isn't really a CW site so I don't really keep up with it. I'm looking forward to future editions.
|
This is pretty sweet. The Kaspersky Cup went totally over my head, it looks exciting as well! I'll have to check it out soon.
Using this weekly round-up to keep up with tournaments will make it so much easier, I think.
|
Very good idea to have a weekly round up this will really drive more casual gamers to the site as you have done so much of the donkey work to get this info.
Much appreciated!

And another benefit of no LAN.

Great roundup - thanks! Looking forward to more of these roundups.
Spoiler alerts would be good though - luckily i just watched Nony+ Show Spoiler + get demolished (day[9] accent)

They're not taking the beta down permanently, just for a few weeks if I understood correctly.

I really like this idea for a SC2 tourny Weekly Round Up. I don't think anyone has the time to watch every single tournament so this is great for staying on top of information and top players.
|
Nice work, keep it up those tournaments are getting better and better to watch ;] And a very nice screenshot of Day[9] :D
|
Nicely written article, liked it a lot. But missed that damned Kaspersky Cup as well.
|
This is great, I've had so much trouble following all of my favorite players which all these tournaments going on.
|

|
Yay Im informed. Thanks for all the hard work guys.

Seriously. We have gone above and beyond what is expected to get mentioned and never do. I mean we can't even seem to get the ITL listed in upcoming events when other little no name events get listed.
Something is REALLY wrong here. We put on cards STACKED to the gills with talent and fantastic matchups and get ignored time and time again.... I mean I hand picked QXC vs. KawaiiRice and Game 2 turned into one of the best games of SC2 yet... O yea that's got 1600+ downloads too....
What am I missing?
|
ITL is pretty amazing. I do think TL should at least add it to the calendar every week even if they don't feel like mentioning it. QXC vs Machine was definetly one of the best series since SC2 beta came out.

Don't sweat it guys. When we started doing this article, we realized there were far too many tournaments to fit in this type of post, so we cut it deliberately short. You weren't singled out or snubbed for any specific reason. We plan on having a separate feature that encompasses tournaments more completely soon.
I understand your frustration not seeing your hard work recognized, but believe me when I say we want to spotlight and feature as many good tournaments as we can, and will be making an effort to bring coverage to as much of the scene as humanly possible.
As for you not being listed in the upcoming events, we currently only feature tournaments with prizes and streams. That being said, if your tournament is well-run and drawing big players, we would certainly consider making exceptions. I'm starting to run the SC2 calendar now, so feel free to PM me if you have any questions/comments about any of this.

Thanks for all your help! I'm trying to line up such a big card for Thursday that it will be in here for sure! Now it's on me!

Wow this is awesome. Thanks man!
|
:O agree ITL is sick, and has A LOT of viewers every single time, it should be mentioned
|
Found this round up very, very useful. Thanks for the effort, makes it incredibly easy for someone like me, who is relatively time starved, to absorb it all.
|
Always good write ups coming out of TL! <3 the people around here.

Better question is why should we acknowledge the ITL? Cool you host some show matches but the "league" makes little or no sense to me (at least I can't make it out from your thread on TL). Furthermore, we don't go around adding every little community event unless a) it has a prize pool, b) we're contacted and asked to add it to the calender.
i.e. give us something to work with first.

ready good stuff, a cool summarize throu the scene.

Of course he will, Nony lost those games because he made some big mistakes and was outplayed. I don't think white-ra will have those problems because he plays enough to know better than that.

This is great, several tourneys that I didnt even know about here... Thanks alot!

thank you very much for taking time to do this

Great read, thanks for putting everything together!
