This is really unfortunate. I've been playing/following SC for as long as anyone and the one and only thing that always bothered me about SC1 was that replays weren't ever released.
I understand not releasing the reps for events like TSL where the sponsor has a product that you guys are trying to sell in form of advertising, but this event kinda seemed like more of a community thing and not releasing reps seems pretty lame.
Hope you guys reconsider.

Ok so Ive watched all the games now and the event as such was great with great games. For some reason though I cant seem to find it as interesting to watch SC2 as the original. ![](/mirror/smilies/frown.gif)
This might be to poor knowladge of the game though. Considring I havnt got the beta (or even played it for that matter) I really lack the knowladge to make my own judgement when I watch! That being said I think its awsome that you guys do stuff like this for the comunity.

I'd like to know why replays aren't released for some tournaments, is there any specific reason?

Hope you guys reconsider. The thing with releasing replays is that you reveal to much of the players styles. Usually the players want to keep their specific style of doing things as secret as possible. Also, its a good thing for the competitiveness of the game not to reveal. All in all I think its good that they dont release the replays.

I think its because of players that dont want to show every detail of their strats because they are involved in other tournaments. Just my humble opinion! Theres a little difference between reps and vods.
I dont mind this at all. Watched the glhftv stream and it was great. No lag whatsoever and really good games. TLO vs InControl were my favourite games.
Can I make a suggestion? Can you guys make a team game next time? 4 1v1s and then a team game(2v2) ? i think it would be nice though if we "only" see 1v1 its amazing already ![](/mirror/smilies/smile.gif)
Congrats to all players!

Not releasing replays is kind of silly, especially if it's to protect strategies. Not gonna happen... everything is so open nowadays, trying to hide stuff is just silly. Unless these players intend on playing within a tight circle of people who will never share replays, they will leak, and there is nothing wrong with that. The SC community needs to get over this replay-phobia. WC3 survived fine with replays always being released.

We need clean numbers - we do this now so that we can have big things like TSL later. It also results in 50 english commentators making vods and then we have to track them all down to figure out how many views they had etc.

Wow, it was one of the best SC2 experiences I've ever had haha :-D Ty for all the extreme nerd excitement, I loved every minute of it!!!

man this was all the hype I had made it up to be. Big up to everyone involved and thanks to glhf.tv for bailing out day[9] from downstream. Ustream is how it should be when watching a stream.

Does releasing the reps really drop the view count by that much? I feel like I'm one of the few who hate watching vods because they are 1x speed and the comentators miss a great deal of important things.
Is there any type of system out there that would host reps and make you watch an advertisement before downloading them? Even if it was 1 advertisment per single rep it would be better than vods.

Good tourney! I understand kennigit's response. Theres a few things you cant see from the VODS but u can always figure them out by watching the vods really. Theyll use certain tactics on ladder anyway and most of those get released.

a chance that i ended up deciding to watch the clan war live then ;p

I have slow internet, and the provided VOD links don't work well at all. Is there any chance of them being uploaded to nevake. I read your post above kenningit, but it would seem that putting it on youtube would still condense views and make views easy to point out. (Something similar to the TL Invitational?)

Big fan of that trick that NonY used to blink past the destructible rocks.

have you guys uploaded these elsewhere? ustream fucking blows apparently ..

Burritos and coffee!!! With a Bear Semen chaser!!! Maybe Day could get Taco Bell as a sponsor. And Chill; kinda like the new Spock.
About the replays; everyone complaining please just stop. When you are invited to someone's house you don't drink out of the milk carton. You may do that at home but that's your house so your rules. There is a question of etiquette here and I believe our benefactors to be more than gracious in what they have shared with us.
And good magicians never tell or it's no longer magic for the rest of us.

will watch

Personally I don't care about replays not being released, but I'd like to know why?
