I want to share an idea I had for quite a while and hoping one day, this particular themed mafia may come intro fruition. Legend of Galactic Heroes Mafia. That's right, galactic, galaxy, and also the best space soap opera anime of all time. For those who have seen the series can all agree that it's one of the most original anime series ever produced in history. Classic two sides between democratic-republic vs autocratic societies and among the mixed is third parties (aka Phezzan, Earth cults, etc). There's plenty of materials, references and backgrounds to use and lots of possibilities when attempting to translate this one big series into mafia version. For those who are new with this series can still join in by simplifying the outlines and have just as fun with potential 2-3 sides battle. Although I haven't disclosed much brainstorming ideas than I already have, I just want to put it out there of this possibility and perhaps someone who have also seen LoGH can chime in. Thanks! | ||

Podcast Mafia This can go into several different possibilities: a. The Day/Night description are in a form of short/quick podcasts? b. Hybrid function of use of podcasts to make their posts on-going of that particular "Podcast Mafia" c. Third-party narrator of overview of what's going on that particular mafia, mentioning day/night events, meaningful posts and discussions by villagers/townies/mafia d. You tell me | ||

The highlight/main factor of podcast in my own opinion on a mafia game is how you wouldn't read through all those lengthy length draggy posts or pages and pages of them and let podcast assist/take care of you. Also if someone has a very interesting voice (deep, unique, different pitch) to read/narrate, it brings the feels, goosebumps, and sense of duty to play on! | ||

Or maybe have a gun (with 2-4 shots depending on the size of the game) in the game that must be passed until it's used. RNG it amongst the townies to start, I'd think but people can select their recipients afterwards. If the holder dies, the gun vanishes. Holders can be roleblocked. If roleblocked, the bullet is lost. Just thought I'd throw it out there. | ||

StarCraft Broodwar Mafia - Ver. Terran (tentative title) The players are all pieces of Starcraft Terran unit, for simplicity sake, let's say you are all Terran Marine units. They are all located at the same base in some map/world and in the surroundings is a ZERG BASE! The Terran and Zerg forces are at a standoff and stalemate situation with no real gains/losses and actual combat hasn't occurred for quite some time now. Then one day.... a bunch of Terran marines patrolling outside the base come back to find out they have been corrupted/infected by ZERG. Unfortunately nobody in Terran base realizes this from the start and the infected Terrans are acting to be normal while secretly orchestrating a plan to sabotage the base by killing off one Terran marine at a time (Since every Terran Marine unit had at one point done their own patrolling, it's hard to tell who's the infested or not). Meanwhile the Zerg forces ready up arms and waits for the signal to launch an all-in attack with 100% success rate once the infested marines accomplish their mission where there is a higher # of infested Terran than non-infested Terrans. Even Flash's TvZ or Piano's TvZ skills won't save them now.... You can see where I'm getting at this. Infested Terrans = Mafia, Non-infested = Town. Plus abilities/roles from each side. Now this can also work with Starcraft Broodwar ZERG Mafia or Protoss Mafia where similar scenario occurs (for zerg, it can be Terran using psi emitter or conflict within overmind vs Kerrigan vs cerebrates). Another possibility to further make this format interesting is a mafia game of 2 different Starcraft races at the same time where it's currently Terran vs Protoss, players are either Terran or Protoss (with each side have ability to kill 1 player a night) along with a hidden 3rd party (Infested units in within each race operating to take down both for their own victory, ie. Duran and his own hybrid forces). The last format I just mention (2 sides + hidden 3rd side) is actually a similar format I plan to use for upcoming Legend of Galactic Heroes Mafia coming in 2015. Such a mafia game with 3 sides had occurred before when I used to play TL Mafia (Haunted Mafia) and was inspired by it as it introduced an interesting meta into TL Mafia games. But differences from Haunted Mafia to this format is that Haunted Mafia was 1 big pool of town players with 2 hidden mafia teams whereas this would be 2 pools of town (where killing other town will achieve victory) with a hidden mafia (goal to eliminate both 2 pools of town). ----------------------- TL;DR Possible Mini/Normal Mafia using StarCraft Broodwar background settings and/or Theme Mafia also using StarCraft Broodwar background settings. Thoughts? | ||

Would also want to record a seperate podcast (released after the show) that consists of another weekly podcast where the mafia get together to discuss their plans, they will be barred (on honor rules) from conferring outside of that. The entirety of the game itself is archived in two podcasts just like that. The thread will have an updated OP with each episode but I wonder how I could stop outside interference i.e people sharing their opinions on the direction of the game and their own reads in the thread. Wouldn't it be interesting if each signed up observer (the only people with posting privileges in the thread) supported a faction and a small number of the observers know who the mafia are and are aligned with them or have some kind of passive stake idk. Just spewing thoughts right now as far as how the thread could work but I think it's an idea that would be really fun to run with. | ||

I can help with potential podcast mafia in near future as I also do feel it's a very interesting and unique idea. I'm recently busy due to job interviews and applications as well as preparation for StarCraft Broodwar podcast and VOD casting but as I will be getting my pop filter very soon to go along with my Blue Yeti mic, I feel I have more than necessary capability to record and edit audio files if necessary. But of course, my priorities come elsewhere first for next few weeks so perhaps we can brainstorm in the meantime how exactly you want to go down with this. Oh that and I'm trying to host my very first mafia game end of January so that's 3 plates in my shoulder right now but I'll try to contribute as possible. | ||
