What kind of day was that ? SKT goes 0-2, RNG goes 2-0, SUP goes 1-1 ? Like, WHAT THE FUCK ON EARTH is actually happening ? I was definitely not hyped for this MSI compared to the previous one coz I'm a huge Fnc fanboy. Now I'm just getting more and more into it..

...and if G2 keeps this slide going, them going sixth and reducing EU's group draw to one spot in pool 2 and two spots in pool 3 is an actual possibility. 'EU has a higher percentage of their seeds in the bottom pool than the Wildcards' would be technically true in that case. That'd be a hell of an ignominious storyline for the rest of the season.

You shouldn't really use absurd analogies in a discussion, it doesn't prove anything or further the discussion at all. The issue is that the fans feel that they are entitled to watch a team give them selves 100% (instead of like 80%), which they are not. Just like other people cannot demand that I eat healthy. Hence why the analogy is relevant. These fans fits my stereotype of people having nothing else going for them in their life and is living through their own life through the teams. Otherwise there is no reason to get so emotionally invested in G2 not performing well. Would I like G2 to perform better? Yes as a European ofc. But when they don't perform, I am like "oh that sucked. I wished they had practiced more" and then I move on with my life. And sure, if you have constructive criticism/analysis, present that, but stop with the excessive venting. I recommend watching Thorins video on the topic. He focussed more on the ball than the man which I liked. People are under no responsibility to not be upset for them not trying though either. And given that logic, I am also allowed to be upset about everything you do in life that you are not doing 100%. In reality, I am not upset because I don't asses my self-worth based on what you are doing in your life. But (some) fans do this about teams, and this is why I find them ridiculous. And now we are touching on another topic: The double-standard. The fans them selves demand that their favourite team works 100% all the time while they constantly cut corners them selves. I know I've taken a ton of shortcuts in my life; hence why I am not a professional gamers or in the absolute top 0.0001% of my field. And I am probably not alone. Thus the core issue I believe is the fans self-esteem/perception of their self-worth (or lack of). If your self-esteem stays unchanged when a team losses, you don't feel "upset" or "insulted" afterwards.

Why do you bother with 14 year olds on the internet who think pro players MUST play 14 hours every day and give up everything in their life for this "dream" lol? Good question. One thing I realized after playing CS:GO w/ voice chats is how much easier it is to just "mute" people who are obvious idiots. Whereas when people who write dumb stuff on the Internet I - for some reason - take them serious.

Announcing that they took a vacation was just a bad PR move all around. It had practically no upside, paired with plenty of backlash should they end up flaming out. Simply keeping their mouth shut would've been better simply because it wouldn't allow the possibility of stigma on the instinctive level. Edit: Hypothetically, even if SKT were to have slacked off to explain today's losses, it still is perfectly plausible to write them off in public memory for a few different possibilities. Bad days can happen. RNG and FW overperformed. Bad day + opponents overperformed coincided. Fluuuuuke. They may or may not be true, but these are possibilities that come to mind for the general public wayyy before 'SKT slacked off'. Heck, notice the wording I used? I'm implicitly giving SKT the benefit of the doubt and make the assumption that they'd never do something like that. Their track record helps. The culture they come from helps. THEM NOT SAYING 'WE WENT ON VACATION' SURE AS FUCK HELPS. Gah, that announcement was such a terrible move by G2 management. That alone hamstrung them by removing benefit of the doubt.
