The tl;dr version of this interview: Us showing we could play with/around Jinx so early on was bad. We should've prepared better for this Worlds format (in reference to week 2 playing all the games at once compared to Week 1's 3 games over 3 days). Pick/ban at this Worlds is the most important aspect of the game right now because of how many champions are viable/strong right now. We should've picked Jinx more often and just banned Malphite to deal with his engage. We didn't respect Flash Wolves and Pain Gaming as much as we should have. I'd like to be on analyst desk for the rest of Worlds because I like the experience and will learn a lot from being on it and watching the games with the other analysts than being home and watching the games by myself. Flame is way better for bo1 than Acorn, lmao. When LGD struggled without Pyl in beginning of LPL Summer, almost all their wins were with Flame making some big plays, which were salvaging LGD something, while imp and Weiless were busy running around like headless chickens. Considering that only way LGD moves in is winning 3 games and KT losing to Origen second time, there is no time to be desperate and with Acorn intentionally feeding first week, it might be saving grace for LGD. But of course, in playoffs Acorn should start, it's outta question. And to begin with, Flame never was on starting roster, Acorn was always starter, even when he was "coaching".

In this case, it was EDG, as EDG had been the top team in LPL for two splits when LGD finally got around to beating them. LGD lacks the ability to adapt in-game and in this, as ridiculous as it is, it shares a lot with its Dota team, which was also known for not knowing how to play when faced with a new style. I imagine the management & coaching culture of the organization has a lot to do with it. The team doesn't look to know how to prepare for a tournament. I said the same thing after their P/B against Origen the first day.

As long as OG can beat KT again, or TSM pulls some baylife magic out of their ass, LGD's basically in the bracket stage. I think we learned today something we probably all always knew... C9 is forever the best performing team from NA. Being a "clutch" team is a well known phenomena in other sports and it is rather unappreciated in todays game. C9 has been the best thing to ever happen to NA. Like the opposite CLG. You know they're gonna show up (compared to NA) when they go international events.

All these teams will probably lose to whoever they get in the quarters though outside of maybe group B. The scary thing is c9 are also have a real possibility of falling apart in the second half. Difference is they have to go 0-3 to not qualify. Exactly. Being 3-0 gives them a huge cushion, but the possibility of going 3-3 overall in the group is pretty scary, and definitely possible.

That sort of thing should make other teams want to pick up the pace. S3 Worlds flop IEM lost to Gambit Bota beat Fnatic Allstars beat Fnatic, TPA, OMG in groups, lost to OMG bracket S4 WOrlds made it out of groups, put up a respectable fight against SSB for a western team Won IEM Dumpstered by HUYA/Flash wolves IEM Somehow 3-0 right now So I'd say it's not completely terrible

Near as I can tell it seemed like it was the team as a whole tilting off after early game mistakes in each of their games, not so much an individual player failing. At worst, Xmithie was a non-factor but he certainly wasn't as bad as I thought he would be. They are, and always an earlygame, brute force team. Their strength in NA was "outplay you". With C9 not in the playoffs (the only team in NA to show shotcalling or real teamfighting in recent memory) they were simply like old TSM: Play an earlygame script>try to snowball. They were getting outshotcalled by TSM in the finals and simply scraping by in the lategame either because of comps or massive leads. This is not a recipe that works at worlds, particularly when your "brute forcing" is outplaying wildturtle and dyrus in lane.
