I just think he doesn't know much about League, and definitely isn't an expert he acts like. But then Monte seems to like working with him and agrees on stuff so I dunno. Thorin's strengths come from his extensive background in esports in general, mostly Counterstrike which is also a team game. He's considered one of the foremost CS experts. His League knowledge isn't as extensive as his CS knowledge, which leads to occasionally stupid opinions, but he has good points (watch his thoughts on the Wickd-kev1n swap, IMO he nails the main problems with Elements and what they need to do).

Its not like he's been some scrub in his LPL games either so I really don't get it Oh ye off top-20 is a bit much but he's overhyped because people never take into account just how out of their minds whit3zz and insec played during uzi's worlds runs

The problem is even when he has good points he tends to say something blatantly dumb that just nullifies his point. Even in that Wickd-Kev1n thing he said a lot of good but then he gushes over Kev1n. Same with the ROC pre-season. He gushes over Nukeduck so hard yet the guy has been irrelevant for almost 2 years. Maybe if he just didn't speak about individual players he'd be better off since the huge bias wouldn't happen.

I did watch that and you are right, altough I thought that a lot of people had similar opinion and it's just that he's the one who was able to explain it well. I respect his interviewing craft, I respect his knowledge about team dynamics, I don't respect his knowledge about League of Legends and what makes a player/team good :p

I'd agree that his knowledge about league isn't that great. I think he's got more of a grasp on competition and analyzing peoples achievements as a whole, whereas his understanding of league specifically is pretty meh. Monte usually makes up for that shortcoming IMO except when he lets himself get swept up in Thorin's biases, AKA the eternal Froggen and Flame hype train.

Especially Insec actually, I think people were just soooooo ready with the narrative of him being washed up and SHRC basically being his retirement home last year that they had a hard time accepting he was playing at a really really high level.

I started with SK back in the day with Wickd and Froggen, then CLG.eu, EG, ALL, all the way through. I didn't like the Shook pickup (as a personality) so that was already a black mark but the current situation makes me like them even less.

Ideally, Monte's knowledge base about League would synergize well with Thorin's knowledge base about teamplay and esports in general. Kinda sad it doesn't work out that way.
