Obviously I expect that people who browse these forums just want to watch LPL for high level gameplay, but are you guys really saying that viewership went from 100 people watching LPLen to 28k now just because of KaKAO and Spirit?

had to swap to the Chinese stream, these guys aren't annoying or anything but the complete lack of a game eta was really starting to grind on me

speaking for myself only this is my first regular season lpl game ever, and I would not be watching if not for Koreans, but 27k increase is a lot to pin all on that reasoning.

Because it's their debut viewer umber maybe higher than usual. Everyone is curious whether the Koreans will make a good first impression. This Chinese stream though...still not starting.

Main Chinese stream has 500k viewers right now, with a couple of secondary streams + first person streams of all ten players as well but I'm too lazy to check those numbers.

Well I'll be watching mainly due to official broadcast. Was there a regular live broadcast with English commentary of the LPL at the end? Last time I tried to watch Chinese LoL it was just some guys casting from replays at random times and it was just way too much hassle to keep up with.

Yeah. For a very short time it was done at the lplen twitch channel, but it still wasn't OGN level integration into the broadcast. It was more like a service tacked on.

There was this small project called LPLen that probably didn't have as many total views as Riot has concurrent viewers right now. It was very grassroots, they got access to the spectator client at some point but would still switch to just rebroadcasting the official chinese broadcast with their own commentary because of lag.

It also had horrible quality and lagged more often than not.

don't speak chinese but the chinese stream just cycled thru iG players as if Pokemon and Rookie were starting.

any chinese speakers watching that stream?

Sort of sad they're not showing any of the player stat overlays or interviews, even if they don't have a chinese translator on hand. It's at least something to look at instead of the matches of the day... T.T Unfortunately, it already took me around half a year to learn Dota 2 hero names and slang in mandarin.... I still only know a few of the champion names for LoL in mandarin else I'd give some ghetto translations. Hopefully someone else can volunteer!
