Wow such rivalry in lower tier now. Col.Black get to fight for last place against the guys who knocked them out of promos when they were DTG.

Don't forget that it's classic EG-compLexity rivalry, same level of SK-Fnatic. Esports don't have a lot of storylines like that right now, except for Telecoms in Korea.

Poor guy. Losing his will to live 24/7
But he is Shiphtur.

It is sooooo boring that the same teams are in because they win this one bo5 after they performed horribly in main season. This would also make the whole lcs more interesting because it would be massively exciting in the bottom of the bracket. And the main point, we would be guaranteed to see new teams after each split. In return it might also make the challenger more exciting and competitive because the teams would be guaranteed to promote if they do well.
If they when would also implement the bo2 from Korea with the point system it would be so good.
I'd say a BO5 format is enough games to decide who is the better team, and they know who they are playing weeks in advance to prepare for them. I'd rather not let some shit challenger team in just because the format is stupid. If the bottom 3 of the LCS are better than any challenger team out there, then that's that. Good points, also AsnSensation about their careers ending. However I still think the current format is bad. What they really should do is make the worst LCS team relagate and the best challenger team promote. Then the second and third worst could battle it out. Then you're garanteed some fresh blood in the LCS, there will be something very much on the line in the bottom end of the LCS and the challenger. While 2 of the 3 teams in LCS will have a second change with the BO5 to "defend" their careers. It's just dumb to make the worst team be relegated without fight, when sometimes this "worst team" is 2 heads above guys who're "the best" team in Challenger, like it was in EG-DTG/DB-MYM(before pause) and so on. And Riot are just mimicing soloqueue processes - want to get higher, win bo5, that's it. Even though, Deman saying to Monte when Monte was asking into nowhere about why the fuck Promotions are bo5 and playoffs are bo3 (even 5th place match is somehow bo3 even if it's way more important than spring final) and Deman was answering with something like - do you want to watch 35 games instead of 23? So, if LCS get bo2 formats and bo5 playoffs, it will be ok. The most objectionable thing for me in the whole summer promotions (and for the Spring Playoffs), was the 4.5 patch. Why the hell would Riot flip the metagame on its head immediately before the most important sets of matches? If you suddenly make assassins bad immediately before the most critical LCS series, you're just gonna make Nukeduck look like ass. I understand that LoL is an evolving game with iterative development and the only time it's fine to make a lot of changes is between the end of Worlds and the start of Spring Split, but this patch changed the metagame too much, at the worst possible time- mid split, or between All Stars and Summer Split would've been better for such a big change.
On the one hand, I'm a bit sad that EG kept their place while Coast lost theirs because I think Coast would've done better on the Summer Split... but on the other hand, LCS teams should, at least in theory, be shooting to go big; win your league, go to Worlds, make a mark for yourself- mediocre teams that hang in the bottom 3 spots of their league and try to just hang on to their spot without a realistic chance to be a top contender SHOULD be put under pressure to justify their existence in the LCS- and Coast choked and broke under the pressure, whereas EG didn't.

To be successful long term, teams have to be able to adapt to different patches, it's clear by now that lol is an ever-changing game (for better or worse) and being good at only one particular playstyle isn't going to get you far.
Clearly, for promotion matches, each game of the Bo5 should be played on a different historical patch to test teams' adaptability huehue

One could argue, Worlds already made Nukeduck look like an ass ...
But your point still stands

It's really hard to call out Riot for 4.5, because you can't say that they did it just for negating nukeduck, let's say, it was same for everyone. Teams like CLG or C9 adapted better, teams like TSM and Gambit adapted worse, that's life like Xpecial says. It wasn't 4.5 actually, which killed nukeduck in those series, he just self-destructed.
Was anyone really expecting EG to choke? I mean, when you have Snoopeh and Krepo who ALWAYS put up big numbers in playoffs conditions, and you have Pete and non-tilting Pobelter, your chances to lose to team who chokes harder than Coast usually are very low. And Coast, yep, it was awful. Guess, balance was restored yesterday, Shiphtur won't choke more, Zion will find a new home. Dunno about "done better" part, i guess, NA teams could figure out that Coast are like slightly better SHC and do same.

It's a crap shoot no matter how you slice it at the bottom. These teams need major roster shuffles to find synergy because what they're doing clearly isn't working and you don't see much progress on their calls.
