How did Frost disappoint? Frost was heavy underdogs and they got stomped as expected. If anything we were all surprised they won a game lol.

Dexter goes really aggressive and baits his team a lot.

Is this like ... standard? CLG were playing a split push comp, the jax (played by nien) is meant to be able to 1v1 basically everyone, so they just delay until lategame then send jax top/bot and slow push the other lane.
Basically the equivalent of rat dota, and not the best for high kill games.
Also this patch is feeling pretty passive/farmy because healing/defensive summoner spells got buffed, so a lot of farming champs are being played, rather then assassins who tend to create more kills.

This kinda has become a pretty standard meta for this patch. Lots of tower pushing and objectives (Baron + Dragon) are the focus of the game and a lot of the conflicts. LoL has always been a fairly low kill game (compared to dota) and its been exacerbated in this patch somewhat.

Is this like ... standard? Not really. It's more a result of the draft and how the game went. CLG (blue side) went for a really strong lategame composition and wanted to just sit on their lead and farm it out. TSM (red side) knew they were behind and was just waiting for a mistake from CLG.
The current metagame does have less kills and general action than past metagames though. A lot of people don't like the current meta.

Frost were the underdogs but after winning the first game so handily (granted the superior lane match-ups) and having a gold lead in the fourth game without being able to close it out is pretty disappointing.

It's not disappointing after Ozone game when they did same trick.
IT'S NOW OR NEVER, CLG. DON'T DISAPPOINT. #clgwin

Just semantics but the current League meta reminds me more of the Chen/Enchantress/mass summons fast tower pushes than rat dota. Season 2 with TPA Mundo and bruiser Nid was probably more similar to rat dota.
That said, I think the exhaust buff was kinda dumb. Range buff was needed, but upping the damage reduction to 50% is way overkill. Assassins are completely unviable due to that change.

It seems like his kit has plenty of damage with just trinity or botrk and would do fine with delaying one of them for a while to be a bit more durable I don't actually mind the double offensive first because it was supposed to be 3/1/1 so two offensive items means no one SHOULD be able to duel him or at least the pressures would be made by nien. I would like to note the usage of the words should and would when it comes to nien however
I get that. But in general, not just this game, assuming you're splitpushing and therefore should never end up in any team fights seems like a very risky thing to do. It's like not banning nidalee because you should be able to dodge spears. You also have the teleport for the sole reason of getting into team fights.
Even with the stats from your ult it seems like a big risk since that wont make you tanky, it will just make you less squishy. If the other team decides to try to blow you up you're still a vulnerable target.
And I feel like you should still be able to out duel just about anyone with a jax with one offensive and one defensive item.
I could be wrong, it just always seems risky to me to go for two offensive items first on Jax.
