ecco at mid is the smartest choice you could make. He's good and seems to have a good attitude.

So a question about world championship. Do the results of the previous split have any effect on who's going?

Well the 7th and 8th have no chance of going at all and 1st and 2nd have better seeding into the play-offs (3 go, 1st and 2nd are guaranteed top 4), but nothing more than that.

i think he meant, does TSM/GGU's 1st/2nd placement during the spring split have any effect on them reaching worlds, and the answer is no

I've gotta say that originally I was against that too. It made the last split seem rather pointless. But after seeing Coast/TSM scrub it up this split and seeing C9 and Vulcun prove that, for this split at least, they are easily the best two NA teams I'm pretty okay with the first split not giving a world championship spot. Maybe an overall point system would be cool but I don't think Coast or TSM deserve to go to worlds more than C9 or Vulcun. Also since NA gets three spots it's still possible for TSM or Coast to go to worlds even if C9 and Vulcun meet in the finals.

I totally agree that the top 3 teams at the end of this split will be the more deserving to go. I guess each split must be viewed as a separate tournament and only affect the entry to the next season. It is just weird that this split ends with the super omg world grand hyper finals while last season was "just" the na teams. Makes the last season seem insignifiant compared to this one...

It does feel weird but Riot needed this split structure to have a logical place for relegation matches to happen, and if you think about it, were this just one long season with all the games going towards the spot at world's then by the time we got to the end of it ALL of the games would start feeling really insignificant(I'm looking at you, MLB) rather than just the spring split games feeling kind of insignificant.
If you think of the spring split as everyone competing for the right to continue getting salary from Riot and competing for worlds, it starts making more sense/feeling better. Maybe in season 4, Riot can implement a more tangible reward for winning the first split, even if it's something small like custom summoner icons or something not related to the game like a vacation in Hawaii during All-Star break.

I just hope it doesn't become like Worlds points in KR. No way Sword should be going, but winning OGN in the winter and NLB in the spring near makes them a lock for top 2, barring CJ or KT winning Summer.

Not really. If either CJ, SKT, or KT wins summer they'll qualify for worlds. If one of those four wins and MVP Ozone places second, third, or fourth then Sword will get thrown into the regional qualifier. If Sword gets nothing from NLB there are a dozen different scenarios that wouldn't make them get top two. One of the CJs places second in OGN and they're tied with Sword at 500. MVP Ozone gets second and SKT or KT wins summer and suddenly Sword is forced to go through qualifiers while MVP and SKT/KT qualify automatically. Current standings.
I actually really like the KR model but it probably won't happen in NA unless Riot wants to do three splits like the Koreans do (which would be awesome imo). Alternatively they could do a mid season international tournament to give the Spring season more weight.

Yea I don't mind a system that gives you a leg up to qualify for worlds if you win the 1st split but also isn't enough of a bump to auto get you into worlds (so if you decline/tank 2nd split it won't be enough to get you in).
