This game was way atypical in terms of passivity. So boring.

In early 2011 (I'm estimating, don't really remember how long ago it was) pretty much all the games were like this, there have been a lot of balance changes since to make things more aggressive. This was exactly like one of those deadly boring old style games.

Akali such a strong anticarry.

I feel that MTW just didn't have enough control in their setup for a trist ad. Nunu and Soraka don't have hard CC, Shen's CC is minor and his shield on the AD requires him to be inactive.

Trist needs to stay alive to be able to do damage. Trist can jump away from an Akali, but she'll just jump after her. Plus an AP anticarry against a soraka is of course good. The armor buff that trist gets from the heal doesn't do much.

Westrice doesnt look very good on "standard tournament play" top champs ut his akali is pretty beast hehe

He actually has been doing much better than i thought he would when he joined Crs, i've seen him make great plays on jax, malph and olaf.

Also, Crs improved a million since Saint joined them, if they keep up like this i see a super strong team in the future

boring game t.t not even dragon contest

I am trying to learn a little bit of lol and this is for sure really boring for me

That one hour long game earlier with the Spawn Ultimate by Reginald I think (the player not the champ idk what champ it is lol) was fun to watch.

I guess you could make comparisons to SC2 where two player have gigantic deathballs and neither wants to be the first to engage (remember Happy v ToD?). Sometimes teams just don't want to fight. Not much to do about it.

I understand that much but it seemed like there wasn't even poking.

Most SC2 matches now have bits of pressure thrown in here and there and high level play is moving forward.

In this though it just seems like indecision from both sides on where and when to engage

In this game I should point out Im not trying to start a LoL debate -_-

Neither teams really have poke skills that let them shoot things at each other from a distance so that's a factor.

In LoL, teams are sometimes more cautious about fighting because the respawn timers become rather long. Imagine if you weren't allowed to remacro your deathball until 50 sec after it dies. You'd play more cautiously as a result.

If you like aggressive play, check out some of the Korean teams. Azubu Blaze is the current posterboy for this heh.

Thats fine, but in the same way super passive SC2 might not be fun to watch, super passive LoL is similarly not that fun to watch haha

I am sure many people agree with you heh.

Although top level TvT in SC:BW was really good even if it looked like not much ever happened. The last few series of Flash v Fantasy were really great.

But therein lies a particular difference that I have noticed. When nothing is "happening" more seems to be happening in SC:BW and SC2 in the TvT matchup specifically. Its all about positioning, and tank lines and other small tiny advantages that come from just playing TvT at a super high level.

This doesn't happen in any other matchup in SC and far less in SC2 than in SC:BW.

I think the only passive game that is amazingly fun to watch is a super high level TvT where there is tension at all times as a result of positioning. This tension doesnt exist for me in any other matchup in SC2 or BW or LoL (where passivity is the trait of definition from necessity as opposed to a result of indecision).

The only exception being holding some spectacularly difficult to stop all in slow push from Terran. But then thats the same as setting up for a major ambush in LoL which didn't happen in this most recent game

I hate this IPL setup. The commentators right behind both teams? And the players just have the headphones for soundproofing? Why......

Thanks for taking the time to chat with me people, I just realised one of my favourite Toss (creator) is playing in TSL4 so off I go. I might pop back in here later. Thanks for the nice LR to enjoy alongside a couple games.

Oh there are many more positioning then you (and the commentators :p) realize. The game is kinda that "passive" or the so called baron dance because if one champion dies the game is over. It is probably not that exiciting to watch and even less fun to play (hell its so exhausting to be in the pressure for 10-20 mins when no one dies but you know if you are out of the position for half a sec the game is over)

They are decently soundproofed but you will still hear some things occasionally + you will obv always hear the crowd

I meant earlier in the game. The first 20 minutes were stupid passive and positioning wasn't even something you could see as being the main goal. They werent positioning to be aggressive they were positioning to be able to defend and farm passively.

As the game went on there was more positioning involved but it was still different than the kind of tactical aggression i saw earlier in the day in different games.

The issues of passivity in LoL are exacerbated by the fact that English LoL commentators suck at filling that downtime with meaningful content, so it emphasizes how much nothing is going on.

Zyra afaik.

Afair this tournamnet is on diana, but they can't play diana because china doesn't have her yet.
