[IEM] Season 6 Championship - Page 106
Forum Index > LoL Tournaments |
At any point of IEM Season 6 Championship, if you think of an interesting byline, please drop a sentence in the Pro Scene thread. At the end of the month, I'll catalogue the results of Hannover but also any interesting facts or events that happen over the course of the tournament. Thanks. Neo, 06.03.2012

Its not as really important as those issues but its sure saying something about IEM. :| A good hotel during cebits costs around 400 bucks per night. Can't expect IEM to pay that for like 50 people. Also they've released a statement, they allready are spending like 80k or something on accomodation. And sound issues do exist in starcraft too. A lot of tournaments have booths now but it's easier to have booths for one person than an entire team.

Yesterday, casters saying "oops, we need to be quiet, the players hear us on a 20 second delay, cant give away stuff!" honestly, no offense to the casters, but i just mute it and listen to music while watching the games. i'm already knowledgeable enough to know most of the time what's going. i even get frustrated when they don't pan the camera down when there's clearly an engagement, they usually miss a kill. i understand it's a tough job for them and i respect them for doing it, but usually muting is the only way i can watch. plus it keeps me focused on the game!

Yesterday, casters saying "oops, we need to be quiet, the players hear us on a 20 second delay, cant give away stuff!" Today, "How does it feel with loads of people walking around you while your playing" Really? this is a professional enviroment for the players? I find it ridiculous that these problems are even there, let alone they openly admit them like its nothing and do nothing to fix them. Prevent people from walking around them..? Provide the players with the glass/plastic walls like the casters have to seperate them a bit? Its like, they're running their tournament in dreamhacks lan area. :| Do the starcraft players have to put up with this as well? I cant imagine they would, being used to professional sound-proof booths. I heard about crappy accomodation too? Its not as really important as those issues but its sure saying something about IEM. :| in a conversation with carmac @ IEM Brazil, he told me he would rather spend a lot of money with soundproof headsets for every player than put the players in a booth, because they can show that energy after winning a match, which you really dont do in a booth. In the booth you have to pick your stuff, get out of the booth and you lose that high energetic moment and the interaction with the crowd. The best example would be violet's interaction with the BR crowd or when a BR LoL player won a match and threw himself to the crowd, in commemoration. But yeah, you have to watch some stuff you say, like dragon timings and etc, because the sound proofing isn't perfect. I myself was a little guilty by ranting about the teams when they were doing picks and bans and they heard me during selection, so that kinda affected their picks and bans. Please don't say they aren't professional. There are a LOT of things to think about and sometimes the budget/technology isn't enough. They really work their ass off to get the event on the level it is.

What, how? Mercs and Wits and Irelia wrecks vlad in 1v1 super easily and can deny him from getting to the minions properly
