That's funny to me, especially since most DotA people think LoL is boring and slow. The Chinese metagames in both appear to be completely the opposite.

chinese dota has a high amount of gank/roam, in fact they usually devote 2 heroes to killing people in the laning phase, their laning is either 1-1-1 2 roam, or 3-1-1, 2 gankers staying in one solo lane outside of exp range. its a very aggressive laning phase basically pretend the jungle is constantly ganking one lane

All pro LOL Chinese players played on NA for a long time. You can see that in their ban/pick they all use champion's English name and also they call Baron "baron" as well.

Just so you know, everything on CN LOL server is in Chinese so if you don't play on NA you would never know the champions English name.

So... MVP for Semifinals A, Game 1?

Who's your pick?

I think in the early period of dota, the Asian/Chinese plays very aggressively.

But progressively, as everyone becomes super good , no one makes any mistakes anymore and the game gravitated towards farming boring game because ganking relies on the opponent's mistakes or lack of awareness.

China dota teams versus non china teams ( other than Navi or M5) tend to be very one sided action packed stomps because of skill difference. It's only china vs china games that are boring because both teams recognize that neither will make any stupid mistakes.

And chinese teams do try to roam and gank a lot. Just that they are "too good" to get caught in opponents' ganks. Map sense / Perfect warding etc.

There are some CN teams that like to run aggressive strats, but the top teams are notorious for having incredibly good farmers and carry players. As a result you have teams like EHOME who farm for 50 minutes and just roll over you. Think of them like old CLG, where they play incredibly safe, farm forever, and just win through beter mechanics.

Yeah, the farming issue is what I hear a lot about. But just mechanically solid => not many kills per game => "boring" to watch.

Oh, there are usually lots of kills every game. I actually don't know where that stereotype came from D: In an equal-length game, you can usually expect about the same number of kills in a DoTA game as you do in LoL.

EDIT: Early game has a lot less "mistakes" though, so the teamfights and ganks are stacked toward mid-endgame.

very entertaining game :D

even with mistakes, the agressiveness and back and forth of the game made it great to watch.

Let's just kept pretending they all started playing in June so that we can be like, "omg how they so good in so short time, china op."

99% sure that most of the people on the Chinese teams have been playing LoL for at least a year.

edit:
That Karthus won the game for WE imo. That or the WW who got the baron steal.

I would pick that Karthus. Tanky and its him who win the fight to WE at the mid lane bushes where the whole Eh stay in his AOE while only Akali rush in to 1v3 WE

MVP for game one is The Akali (EEP i think?) Single handedly kept them in the game.

That was an awesome game to watch.

Karthus MVP, good build vs that team, was in the front to keep the rest of the enemy team away after Akali dived.

Alistar dominated early game, Akali dominated midgame, bad calls/hubris dominated lategame.

WE won more because of eHome's bad plays than because of their own good plays (Akali diving WAY too far, Kog way overextended bot, forcing baron and headbutting out of range to smite, etc).

Karthus did a good job dying and keeping people in his Defile. Early on, Ali was amazing but he tapered off and had Baron stolen from him. Akali was okay but kept overextending. That fight near dragon was because he was instent on chasing Vayne which stretched the team thin and Koggy was unprotected as a result. Also bad Baron call.

I'm just thinking about haters during Gamescon in the DotA2 thread who said LoL is slow paced, etc. This game wasn't slow at all. >_>

Does anyone still remember how awful the Chinese team was in WCG? They sure came a long way.

Misoyo/Karthus positioning was fight winning a lot of the team fights for game 1. I'd give it to him.

Holy freaking shit that was such an epic game. Fuck Dignitas, they got nothing on these Chinese teamfights.

Amazing baron steal. EHome would have been too ahead if they got the baron but that steal was so clutch.

The Chinese might play a more interesting game to watch, but I wouldn't be so quick to say that they completely shit on Dignitas. I doubt any Western team would go for a Baron there and get it stolen causing them to lose the game. Taking risks is good when you're behind, but missing the smite just lost them the game basically. That wasn't a good place for them to fight karthus either so who knows how it would have gone if they even managed to get baron.
