I am blind by the way. :-P

Olaf after remake should be moved to gold or even plat. Once he gets just a few items he can easily 1v3 a backline.

Something I just noticed in Monte's OP is he omitted mentioning the strength of aura items in ARAM. While this is obvious, it is a point that should be stressed.

If your team have multiple champions which utilize AP or AD, someone should rush the corrosponding aura item. They are without a doubt the most cost efficient items in the game when you are basically teamfighting 24/7. I'd even go as far as need be, pick up Zeke's on an ADC if for instance your bruiser does not listen to reason.

By rushing the aura item your team as a whole will gain a significant advantage if the other team does not, and you can easily capitalize on this by winning the early game towers fast.

It's actually in the OP.

Auras are King

In almost every ARAM someone on your team should build Aegis/Bulwark. The difference it makes in terms of survival cannot be overstated. While other aura items are still situational (e.g. Zeke's, WotA), remember that you are perpetually in a 5v5 situation. More often than not you'll be surprised how strong they are.

which is #1 reason why Sona is so dam good in ARAM.

I play ARAM quite a bit, and while I'm not as good at ARAM as Monte, I could do a few guides I guess.

Here's one for Pantheon I suppose.

Pantheon
In ARAM, Pantheon suffers from low spell ranges and a lack of sustain. While he shines in skirmishes, the continuous poke battles and teamfights of ARAM do not bode well for his success. Nevertheless, he can still contribute substantial amounts of damage to a team if you play carefully.

Despite Pantheon's "Assassin" tag, he struggles with assassinating carries because of his relatively low mobility and the fact that most of his damage is tied up in a channeled (and thus interruptible) spell. Instead of diving priority targets, focus on staying on the periphery of the fight, avoiding CC, and trying to damage as many people with Heartseeker Strike (E) as you can. Use Spear Shot and autoattacks whenever possible. Save Aegis of Zeonia to jump on priority targets or proc your passive in duels, and use your ultimate not as a nuke, but to position yourself to pick off retreating enemies.

Starting Items: Brutalizer + Potion
Priority Items: Black Cleaver, Last Whisper, Ravenous Hydra
Runes: APen, AD
Masteries: 21/9
Skill Order: QWQ, R>Q>E>W

For Pantheon, if the enemy team will have a hard time punishing spear harass you can start with a Tear and literally never run out of mana on ARAMs while spamming spears all day. It's really hard to stack it up without turning it into a Manamune as soon as possible while using E on cd though, so if you'd rather put your money into a faster LW/Hydra that's your call.

I'd buy Tear if I could get in range often enough to harass with Spearshot. But against many teams you can't, so you'll end up Spearshotting relatively sparingly.

You shouldn't ever never Tear on Pantheon in ARAMs, and it's a common mistake I see on less experienced ARAM players (I have nearly 1k games by now with a ~65% win rate */shamelessbrag*). Your innate mana regen in ARAM is plenty high for you to not need the mana from Tear, unless you spam pointlessly.

Rush Cleaver, Mercs/Tabis, Last Whisper, Ghostblade in that order and you'll have plenty of damage to kill even tanks meaning you can let your last 2 items be tanky - I like Visage or Frozen Heart as 5th item depending on enemy team to max out CDR while adding a significant "burst" of tankiness alongside the increased damage of having lower cooldowns. The 6th item I almost always go Randuins regardless of their team for the manmode into their team -> active Randuin slow combo.

In some cases grabbing a Hourglass is actually quite strong on him to avoid getting instagibbed after doing an execution or by a play from say a good LB or Zed - if you can bait out their rotation it's nearly a formality to retailate by slaying them instantly leaving you with substantial advantage as you can nuke down at the least another player in most cases.

Lastly, if your team needs a tank against a heavy auto-attack based composition build Pantheon as a Attack speed based tank. Once you get ~2 APS and Frozen Heat+Wardens Mail you can litterally tank an entire team and since your passive is up so often and you debuff their autos. As a sidebonus you can tank an entire tower line easily if you happen to gain an ace.

You clarify with your later statements but "shouldn't ever never" actually would read "always get tear". Double negative op.

Random musing. I was thinking about LoL as a casual player while trying to fall asleep last night. I was having trouble and this usually happens after losing a game before going to bed. Analyzing mistakes etc. which can be good if you process it in the appropriate way. Reliving mistakes in your head while trying to fall asleep is not the appropriate way.

And I realized why ARAM is perfect for casuals like myself that are too tryhard when they play for the most part. Summoner's Rift games are like a story. Bunch of actions lead to other consequences and there are millions of possibilities for how things could have gone. I had a ton of mistakes, probably could have got that kill, not died to that gank, or even just cs'd better the first few minutes and the game could have been totally different. But ARAM... it's just a giant teamfight nonstop. I can hardly remember the sequence of events in any ARAM beyond super memorable outplays or big events like they took turret after we were aced. It all gets mixed up so easily in your head that in addition to it just being fun and less punishing towards death/lack of cs'ing etc. that it's just a stress-free environment you can enjoy more (I know there's more to why it appeals to casuals). Blah blah didn't know where else to post this.
It is vanity to love what passes quickly and not to look ahead where eternal joy abides. Tiberius77 | Mordek #1881 "I took a mint!"

What I like about arams is that they're faster than normal games. So at least when you get a retarded team you know you won't have to stick with them for too long.

It seems like nobody's mentioned Lucian yet, but I really like him in ARAM. I'm 6-0 or 7-0 with him so far, and I think partially that's due to other players underestimating his damage, but I'd say he's about as good as Sivir and Ashe. His poke is actually really strong with E+passive keeping people in check, and he doesn't need to buy any mana regen with 21/5/4 masteries. He is practically guaranteed to outdamage any other champion in early game teamfights, and his ult is actually quite good in ARAM as a way to attack while retreating.

Item builds: I've tried multiple things, not sure what I like best yet. It seems like starting Sheen into Trinity Force is the way to go, and Berserker's Greaves for boots, but after that point it always feels like I'm lacking a little for flat AD. I've mostly been going Sanguine Blade and Statikk Shiv, but I think I prefer Last Whisper as the second item instead, or Brutalizer > Sanguine Blade > Black Cleaver. Building AD caster-ish makes Lucian way more effective at sieging. I'm curious what other people think, though.

Believe it or not I'm actually updating the main post. I'm going through and making sure the current guides are still accurate before adding new ones.

This was motivated entirely by a recent Trundle ARAM I had.

I've been running starting items of 3x Drings and pots on champs like Ahri, Nidalee, and Janna.

Going into the game with ~80 AP is silly strong.

Discuss.

Seriously.

Low on health? W and heal off the creep wave.
Still low on health? W and ult the enemy tank.

Repeat every 30 seconds.

Also, Doran's Ring x3 is ridiculously strong on champions that aren't insanely mana hungry. It allows you to go full 20 MPen runes and still have a ton of AP to make it hurt all the more early on. It works on pretty much any AP who can poke.

Ahri or Gragas I can understand, but I'm not sure if I like 3x Doran on Nidalee. She already has a dominating early game, the health is wasted, and it doesn't give you enough mana regen to start healing at lv8. Spears already do so much damage with a Chalice start, I don't really see the purpose of delaying her core build.

I find chalice start to be extremely potent on most champions with heavy poke potential - especially those that has to get in harms way to poke well.
The MR is extremely helpfull against counter poke, and just knowing that you will never run out of mana makes it easier to just spam and hope with skillshots.

Especially the classic supports (Janna, Soraka, Lulu, Sona ect.) seem to benefit a lot from having the freedom to just spam their abilities.

3x dorans seems interesting, but less safe due to the lack of boots and MR. I guess its a question of how confident you are in your ability to do good pokes without retaliation. If you are against a poke heavy team, 3x dorans looks too risky imo.
Go try StarBow on the Arcade. TL thread: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=440661

Randomly got Nidalee two times today.

Start: triple Dring, 2 Hp pots, 3 mana pots.

End results (the two deaths were intentional to buy items):

I'm surprised there's no mention of Mana Manipulator at all. It's crazy OP on ARAM if you have a mana-reliant team. It allows people to either start Tear and be OK mana-wise, or give them even stronger mana regen from their Chalice (plus the MM's regen).
What fun is it being cool if you can’t wear a sombrero?
