In fact, he also almost lost the game when he lost a 1v1 to a Kayle, which almost threw the game as well. I'm not even arguing whether Gunblade was good buy or not. I'm just saying there was no need for Randuins if he was gonna split. -.-
I would argue gunblade was a good buy. It gives him both armor, mr & better 1v2-3 dueling power. At one time not sure if it was before or after he got it. They send 3 people and he kills 2 of them. Having 2 slow+damage actives is pretty strong both for fighting and getting away.
Earlier someone asked about jungling jax in s4. I've done it a little and it works fine. I usually go SOTEL into standard cutlass tri bork randuins visage. For jungle I really like MS quints so you can chase, kite and cut people off better. He might not be tier 1. Although if you're average with a tier 1 jungler. You will probably do more damage with a good jax.

Isn't it about time to drop and recreate these out of date champion guides?

With the new tanky bruiser meta at the top lane, has anybody tried out playing jax with tp instead of ignite? I feel like its hard to get kills going early on so i tried out skipping the ignite for maximum split pushing power. What do you think of that vs renek/shyv? Against mundo i will probably still go for ignite. But i feel like i cant really kill half decent reneks/shyvanas anyways until i have 1-2 core items and by then ignite doesnt make much of a difference since they will disengage somewhat fast anyways. TP gives me the power to contain them and still help my team in small skirmishes with jax burst damage

No ignite against shyvana or renekton is probably just asking to get all inned sometime before 6.

You can gain a slight edge having tp by recalling rather early to buy defensive item -> armor/mr mantle + red bottles, that will help you keep the aggression going on. You don't lose almost any lane time ~> 10seconds altogther if done right. I use this on top lane rather often + tp is great mid/late game.

That is part of the reason i am not running it always atm. I have tried it out but i feel like against aggressive lanes i would prefer to have the possibility of getting a little lead through aa gank+ignite. As expected against renek and shyv the early levels are a bit hard since they are a lot more willing to go all-in. Feels like TP is too much of a gamble against them. Against mundo i can recommend it as an alternative, more late game oriented playstyle

Ignite is awesome but i usually relied on somebody getting morello or using his ignite on him(with support running ignite nowdays it wasnt a big deal). I just found tp to be very useful for splitpushing and keeping mundo out of the fight since after some items i could outduel mundo easily. But as i said its an alternative, i would love to hear more opinions on running tp on jax in general. I feel like jax is one of the strongest splitpushers and usually does a ton of it, so why not make use of the best splitpushing summoner? But i will accept that it is not a possibility against renek/shyv, these lanes are just too tough.

I think that Jax only really works as a splitpusher if he's ahead; ignite will help you more. Furthermore, ignite still helps you duel people when you splitpush.

Hey guys I was wondering what are the best runes to use with Jax. I heard on Allstars that one guy was using Atk Speed. Wondering how much of the runes were attack speed and so on and so forth whats optimal.
Anyone have any suggestions?

You can search on lolking or other sites for guides, but I think AS marks, AD Quints, and Scaling MR or Armor and flat MR or Armor is your go-to(scaling for the kind you're not laning against, flat for the one you are).

I used to run AD / Armor / MR / Lifesteal before the nerf. Now I'm trying Hybrid Penetration / Armor / MR / Attack Speed, and I like it.

Hybrid Pen is good too. Flat AD helps you with farming early on if you have that, as well as working slightly better if you're planning to go for Cutlass early.

I prefer ad reds for early dueling & last hitting. Quints you can basically take whatever you fancy like MS,LS,Armor or AD. If you really want to go ham vs some ad top you can take AP blues.
Jax is seeing a lot of bans lately. If he gets even slightly fed vs a squishy team he just crushes in team fights. Had a bad experience lately where 4 people focused him and he gave 0 fuks with only a randuins for defense. Then with just a little help from his team they cleaned us up. I was adc and couldn't do much more than kite him doing almost no damage even though I had BT,IE,PD,LW. He could 3-4 hit me in 1-2 seconds.

I often run trundle as a counter to Jax, maxing pillar second. If you see him winding up a stun, you can run away and use pillar to stop his jump. Also as long as you don't feed him super hard you scale with him and you are more useful in teamfights (Q, BotRK, pillar, Ult). Just my 2c

I am not the world's greatest Jax and yet I can consistently beat Trundle. I don't know why people think it's a counter:
* Trundle ult should never be that useful against Jax 1v1, because no Jax is going to press R until he sees Trundle press R; * Pillar is not a great form of disengage 1v1, since Jax can jump over it; * Counterstrike ignores 100% of Trundle's damage, and so long as Jax turns it on when he's next to Trundle, Trundle has no real escape; * Trundle Q is annoying to deal with but is far less crippling than say, Lee Sin's or Malphite's attack speed slows
I do agree that Trundle is capable of surprise-killing a Jax even if the Jax is a little ahead, which is not something most champs can do. But I think Jax has the advantage so long as he is careful to respect Trundle's power spikes (i.e., not fighting when both have a BotRK but Jax has an incomplete Triforce and Trundle has Warden's Mail).

I've been thinking about this a lot, but why does no one play Olaf top against Jax? It's not as much of a cakewalk as it was in the hey day of Olaf, but I still feel like it favors Olaf pretty heavily early on. At the very least, it sort of forces the Jax to take ignite unless he wants to lose every early and close fight. I figure in competitive play its partly Olaf's immobility and partly the fact they could just lane swap and a denied Olaf is far worse than a denied Jax, and Jax can deal with Olaf fine if he gets past the difficult part for free.
My general impression is Olaf doesn't scale into the late game quite as well as Jax, but he's extremely strong mid-game if you played the early game properly. And if you get a lead, its generally pretty easy to keep and/or build it and just end the game before it ever gets too late.
|
Id say because that midgame you are thinking of is basically nonexistent. Particularly compared to shyvana/Renekton, or even irelia.
