I think he's the most imba hero from what I've seen in my first couple weeks of playing... the jump attack along with the rest of his kit seems so strong. What champs counter him best? nunu, malphite, irelia with good skill, vlad can as well as jax will run out of mana probably before vlad runs out of sustain. I've seen jaxes beat irelias and vlads all the time on stream. It looks fairly even or in jax's favor.
I've done well against jax as kayle but those times I got matched against a good jax, and they were only slightly behind at a higher level, the lane became a lot tougher. I've had troubles as jax vs gangplank. The idea with both I think is just to kite him and wait for his E to wear off while your minions help you whittle him down.

I'm about to play my 5th jax game. Played vs 2 darius, 2 teemo's. FML.

Has anybody ever tried using lich bane on Jax? I used it in a 3v3 a few months ago before new 3v3 items so I don't know if they still have it on 3v3s, but getting an ult proc + Q + W + lich bane proc just 100-0 every squishy ever.

You need quite some AP to make it better than Sheen (read: going from base AD to 80 + whatever other AP you have, considering the second part also took ~2k gold), while triforce gives AS/MS, useful to chase and increase your dps, and the phage proc, which does the same.

only malphite, yorick and possibly urgot (but weird position) can beat him assuming you solo top
olaf teemo possibly manages a draw. the rest will get owned.
remember you're not playing to "draw" with jax. you've got to beat him. that's because he scales much better than you do and is practically a god after 2 major items.

Unless you are singed and then you scale like a bitch too. You would definitely try to draw in that case.

Guys after making the new Amumu thread we could make a new Jax thread. Who is pretty good and plays Jax here? I am obviously not good enough but I can give some input on jungle Jax so yeah.

flat AD marks/quints, flat armor seals flat mr glyphs
can take movement speed quints.

Is it even a good idea to run AD runes anymore on Jax? Jax isn't early game monster that he used to be. If anything, I find that the goal is to get to 6 while avoiding too much confrontation early and then just take over the lane with superior scaling. I'd think that Jax would do better with AS or penetration runes.

Jax scales better off AD than penetration runes because his skills do magic damage not physical, the ad is better for trading in lane/last hitting. Attack speed scales better but can make the laning phase much more difficult so it's personal choice. Movement speed is great against certain champs like Yorick, Jayce and Cho because you need to be very mobile against them to avoid their crap. Movespeed is more of a survival choice. It's great against Darius for example because most Darius players use movespeed and it lets you get away from him after you leap onto him.

Flat AD -> easier to last hit -> better early game.

If your depending on AD runes for good last hitting you should improve your last hitting skills.I would think penetration runes are better unless you have a tough matchup where you need the AD runes to not get destroyed in lane
Edit:engrish too hard

If I have no lane opponent, of course.
With higher AD, you have a broader window to last hit a minion. It's extremely helpful esp when you are against a hard match up.

Also when pushed to tower (often happens to me as I play very defensively on Jax, basic outline "farm as much as I can till 6 while taking as little damage as possible and with no ganks opportunity for the enemy jungler") having AD runes is never a bad thing, at least until you get your first AD items.

woiwowow turns out i love jax just had such a fun lane vs a skilled singed i kinda lost the lane(close though but id have to give the edge to him) but still helped bring out the victory

Dat feel when you hit someone with a Q, W and proc the R on the same hit + red buff with a perfectly timed E for the stun so you can wail on em some more
|
So has anyone on the PBE tried out frozen fist + ravenous hydra jax? seems to me that could make him comp-breakingly scary when used in some of the modern ori/lulu/zil jaxbomb comps.

If you have no one in lane i could maybe see it working but yeah.
Seen a stream recommend AD Marks/Quints Armor Yellows and AP/L Blues(since he has good ap scaling too) dunno how much merit to that though.
