You haven't missed anything DKim basically just went over the major changes (eco + new units) so far.

-Masters to GM is a continuous stream. So all GM and Masters are basically on the same ladder. -GM is now a dynamic ladder of the top 200 points of the time not just a snapshot Changes to ranking. Specifically it is easy to say Gold > Silver player but Gold r20 > Gold r65? Not quite as clear. -Communication for how far/close you are to promotion -Adding Silver (insert non-Masters) 1-10. "Mini" promotions basically. -Changes to bonus pool (either non-existent or much smaller) Some changes to Bronze league I don't care about

(EDIT: Second take: slightly more hopeful, but not satisfied until demotions are brought back and bonus pool is removed). So divisions are staying? And no demotions is also staying? The goal was supposedly to increase accuracy, but no demotion does the opposite. Good to hear that the bonus pool, the most distortionary and discouraging part of the current ladder system is being removed or made smaller (it should be removed).

So divisions are staying? And no demotions is also staying? And this is suppose to increase accuracy. Demotions may be back. DKim said if they shorten season length then demotions may not be necessary as well. I don't know if divisions are staying or not. I don't know if Silver1 is all people in Silver1 or not. Either way if you're in Silver1 and Silver itself is 20% of all players if you're in that division you can narrow your skill level down to a pretty granular level and if you move up to Silver2 you are even more aware. I think the changes are actually really good.

I think the changes are actually really good. 10 subleagues are good. I'd be interested to know whether what determines promotion and demotion is symmetric, but I don't suppose they go into that sort of detail. Of course demotions are needed, regardless of season length. If you overshoot the league and you can't be demoted then that distorts the ladder. If you add a fudge factor to deliberately undershoot the league, then that is also distortionary. Moreover, season length does not particularly constrain the number of games people can play. People can mass games over short periods of time. But useful writeup. Thanks.

-Zealot skin with a polearm and heavy armor instead of psiblade and standard. Hydralisk has extra spikes and looks like a fucking Death metal concert -Dragoon -Hero units (Kerrigan in the one we saw) -Usable abilities, think the Artifact from the WoL campaign Reasonable to expect things in a similar vein going forward, particularly on the skin front since I cannot stress how cool I think the Zealot skin is.

Glad to see that they finally did what should have been done when hots came out. Their bs excuse was pretty disgusting. I don't care much about the other stuff. Story dlc is pretty sweet I guess, but I wouldn't mind waiting another 10 years for sc3 to see how the story continues. I always thought sc2 had one of the best ranking systems in gaming history. However, a lot of games have copied it's system (or hired the same guy in some cases) and expanded on it, so updating those changes to sc2 makes sense. The only thing I wish they would change is tighten MMR range again. In WOL I always felt like I was playing someone on my skill level, whereas in hots it will often randomly throw in someone who is either way worse or way better than you.

the bronze/silver/gold/etc.1-10 stuff is really good, should be easier to measure progress now, divisions sucked at low levels since most players aren't active enough to have a competitive fight for #1 in the division bonus pool needs to go, it's way too discouraging for players that want to start mid-season demotions need to come back, it won't be too discouraging for low levels i think, in wol you only got demoted at low levels if you went inactive since being active is enough for 90% of players to improve in skill. also it fucks over boosters. the gm thing is good, makes low gm an accomplishment instead of a "you got there first and stayed active" thing

Like I know I'm no longer good enough nor have the time to consistently be masters. But just getting into Diamond seems so horribly easy. So maybe I can set a goal like "Diamond 4" or something instead of just "Keep playing and I'll be Diamond anyways."

That being said, I hope they announce the winners for the arcade contest shortly after LOTV's launch to get people interested in Arcades. But yeah, Halluejlah, I'm glad they're adding microtransactions to get them invested in the game. For the last 5 years it felt they were holding off on shit to put on the back of the box for an expansion 2 years down the road. I really hope they haul ass and make SC2 great by addressing those giant list of issues people tend to go on and on about.
