My guess is that people don't play enough, say Evelynn on ARAM or Lee Sin on 3v3 for them to have sufficient data. But that's fine, you can just get by with slightly inaccurate mastery data on those champs for now and fine-tune it later. I mean in aram you don't select your champion, I think thats a big part of it not making sense. I think adding mastery to the featured game mode (which they are doing when it comes out) that is their bone to the 'casual' player. so chests are the way they are because of the s rank thing. Keys on the other hand are based on size of group. I don't know if it's on a curve but in theory key drop is 20/40/60/80/100% on victory based on size of your premade.

That seems like the worst way to distribute things that are supposed to go together. This makes hotdogs and hotdog buns seem logical.

both are geared at increasing the size of groups in dynamic q, which has been a very thinly veiled goal of riot for the last 6 months or so. Playing in a 5 man gives you 5 chances to earn an s rank as well as virtually (not sure if actually 100%) guaranteeing you a key on victory

Why does how you picked your champ affect whether you should get "graded" on your performance? Sure, ARAM performance is generally lower than SR performance, since presumably SR Riven games are heavily skewed towards Riven mains while ARAM Riven games are less skewed. But I don't think that's a huge problem - if you main your champ and get him in ARAM, you should expect to get a higher "grade" than someone who has to look up the champ's abilities.

Mirross (red poster) 1) They drop randomly when you win games. It's not mandatory to be in a premade but it does increase the drop rate a little. http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/cuuOtBkZ-hextech-crafting-and-loot-qa?show=rundown actually purely by chance the same guy if you ctrl+F him says they won't add mastery to modes where you don't choose your champion so I guess they had the same feeling as me on that one.

I've been soloqing almost all my games and I'm in the same boat as you. I haven't gotten a key frag past the first 9, and I've played a ton of games. I ended up just buying a key to open a chest, and I suspect if this keeps up I'll need to keep buying keys to open the chests as I keep piling them up.

Your frag drop resets monthly just like boxes do. Its planned that way. You will always have more boxes then keys. Remember that towards the end of the year it will be harder to find champs to get boxes on. They key frag drop rate isnt some binary thing that stays stationary, its constantly changing depending on how many you have received recently.

At the beginning I remember I was getting a fragment after like every 3-4 wins, sometimes even less. Now, I haven't gotten a single fragment after 10+ wins.

It ultimately has less of an effect on MMR than an AFK or someone getting their champ pool randomly banned out. It's just noise that will get lost in the signal. No that is not the way that mmr works. AFKs get lost in the signal because the effect on your games is random. You win just as much as you lose. If that wasn't the case then your MMR would increase or decrease to reflect your difference in afk rate. The MMR difference that results from this is the same size regardless of the % of games that are played between 5s and non 5s (unless, again, that % is zero). It would be the same if all of the 5s games were played against soloqueuers or .5%. The only difference is how fast the mmr difference converges to that number. Which depends on the overall number of games played and not individual. (Individual team games played against other teams determines how fast you converge towards the team mmr advantage though)

But you're probably underestimating your leave rate. Leaves are a high variance occurrence and small leave rates still produce highish overall games with leavers. Which makes it hard to evaluate your leave rate compared to the average. E.G. Suppose that the average leave rate is 1/100 games. Cause doesn't matter. In games you don't leave you would expect at least one leave on either team about 8.7% of the time. Which you would notice. But your 1/100 might not even be on your radar.
