Re; Taric Top Lane
I don't think he will be as cancer top lane. He no longer has an real engage potential. Half his kit requires another person and he lost his most valuable asset. All he has now is his heal and passive and that won't be enough to carry him into the lategame.

It depends on how much damage his passive does; if it's cranked up then yeah he could be a viable top laner, especially if he finds a way around his inevitable mana issues.
Otherwise, though, he's a melee champ with a single CC that doubles as his only damaging spell. That's pretty tough to solo lane with.
EDIT: This is actually an interesting trivia question - is Taric now the only champion in the game with only a single damage-dealing QWER spell?

Is this that thing where people overreact about how skins look awful when they aren't done, viewed at an angle they aren't made for, and are not in the context of the game they will do in instead of a matte colored background again?

Good point! Perhaps a better question is: is Taric the only champion in the game with only a single enemy-affecting QWER spell? Both Zilean/Bard have multiple spells that affect enemies, but it looks like only Taric E affects enemies.

bard and taric are super similar on paper but very different in reality. Not sure how I feel about that.
I think taric might suffer from bard syndrome in competitive play where hes definitely strong enough but too difficult and inconsistent to use to risk using him as more then a pocket pick.

I think he'll be as strong as updated sion/poppy when they were updated.
obviously numbers will be important since I don't know them (are they up?) but knowing riot, they probably gave him decent numbers

numbers look to be on PBR and so being updated to S@20
Numbers do not look high.
Passive is 15+5/level + .3 bonus armor
20+10/lvl (.2 AP +1.5% bonus HP) per charge on his heal
Bastion passive 10%+2.5%/level bonus armor
Bastion Active: 8+1% max HP/level
60+45/level +.5 AP +.3 bonus armor -1 CD/level +.25second stun/level on E
ult is 25 second CD/level

at first glace the numbers definitely look decent enough

E or Q depending on the lane but E is definitely the better option.

@people talking about complexity in last thread
I really don't think his kit is *that* loaded. The q w and e are, if anything, easier to use than lulu's q/w/e. His w/e combo is basically lulu's e/q, the q heal is relatively straight forward, and none of the complexity of using lulu's w properly.
His ult is the only part of his kit that seems hard to use, but even if you completely fuck it up it should still be useful. That has the potential to be the most broken thing ever though :p
I like how they remove kindred r targetting because "it allowed highly skilled kindred players a little too much room to outplay", then add taric who has a way harder to use, (and way more powerful when used perfectly) ability in the same patch

Taric kalista is probably going to be devastating. A way to get him up close and personal, and then make every single person diving with him invulnerable WHILE also being able to peel for his carry with a well placed W/E.
Seriously though, AoE kayle ulti, even if it's short duration is crazy strong.

I am thinking Taric Kindred. Kindred ults for immediate burst of 'lets not die" then taric ults on a timer to make team invulnerable for the clean up

Why not both.
While a lot of champs can disrupt it(azir, gragas, janna, ali etc.), if they don't have those picks you'll pretty much autolose fights.
