funny how u ignore the fact this game was soloQ for 5 seasons which became the reason majority people played league, before riot in all their wisdom decided to remove it for no fucking reason and try something which failed in every moba and force dynamicQ into our throats.

Yeah, and during that time I was more focused on wanting position based queues. I got what I wanted. I don't really care if it's solo/duo or dynamic.

I don't think anyone is against position based queue's, they've been a pretty resounding success. It's just riot has bundled it with all this dynamic garbage and tried as hard as they can to sell it as if dynamic queue and new champ select are the same thing, so they can claim every success of new champ select for dynamic queue.

I don't think they can. They enjoy the advantage of cooperation, but so do their opponents!
Sure and their opponents have a higher MMR reflective of their advantage of cooperation because the cooperation advantage cascades through all of the queue types if there is any overlap at all. Regardless of the number of games any one team in particular play.
If you want the explanation of the math(in words) you can see the older thread or see here.
With regards to the size of the effect? I haven't done any personal research into group dynamics, but in general what i have seen seems to indicate that group effects are pretty large. So i would suspect that the "magic of cooperation" is worth quite a bit of boost.
Isn't that premised on a 5 man playing a less than 5 man, as you wrote? Obviously you will have inflated MMR if you queue as 5man and get to play against non-5-mans.
On April 07 2016 04:01 GrandInquisitor wrote: 1) By "inflate", you're suggesting that BronzeBob is able to achieve a higher rank, say, Silver, because he's playing with SilverSam + three other Silver friends all the time. But BronzeBilly, who doesn't play with friends, but is equally skilled as BronzeBilly, can't climb.
No. I mean that if BronzeBob and BronzeBilly queue up as a group and so attain the advantages of cooperation. They will increase their MMR over BronzeBilbo who does not but is otherwise equally skilled.
Being able to make friends and play together and use cooperation seem like relevant skills in a team game.
Sure. But some people don't like the fact that there is no pure soloqueue and so them deciding to play the game alone and not as a cooperative activity for whatever reason is "damaging" to them. In the same way as teams increase their MMR this decreases the MMR/League of people playing solo.
Saying its a relevant skill is just like saying you shouldn't care about your MMR/League. Ok that is true that these things don't/do really matter, but its also true that people still care.
I mean, yes, some people will think this way, and some people also thought vanilla Starcraft was better than Brood War.
You're signing up to play a team game. Even the most diehard solo queuer will admit that part of what is considered League skill is working with your team. The only question is whether League skill is restricted only to working with teammates you don't know, or whether it also incorporates working with teammates you do know. That seems like too fine a distinction to justify the complaint that dynamic queue no longer accurately represents your skill.

I am. I think ranked, given that it has rewards, should involve some sort of displeasure and forcing people out of comfort zones.
Also I think the point of ranked is epeen and rewards, not anything that people normally say to hide that they really just want a free skin and to bust out "Diamond" to their frat brothers.
Personally I think that if solo queue was ever instituted, it should take that concept all the way. No duo queue. No position picking. No position trading. Everyone gets randomly assigned a position, and you are hard locked into it from the start of the game. Everyone has to play every position 20% of the time. (If League had equal #s of champions for every position, I'd say you have to play every champion once before you can repeat, too, but that might be too extreme.)
Riot won't ever implement this, but if you want a platonic ideal of "true individual League skill", that's the way to do it.
For me, I don't really care that much about dynamic queue, solo queue, new champion select, etc. I play the game solo, I can play all positions if needed, and I don't give a fuck. However, the system clearly is suboptimal and doesn't work at all in high elo. It makes no sense that your only options are to queue for 2 roles or fill. The combination of only being able to pick 2 roles, the small amount of people in high elo, and the numerous combinations of premades makes for stupid queue times and consistently unbalanced games. It's absurd that we're nearly 3 months into the season and still nothing has really been done to address these problems.

Still can't chose 3 or 4 roles if you don't want to be limited to 2 and/or can't play all 5 of them. Alternatively, fill will never let you realistically play any of them.

Yea gee I wonder why people who complain about long q times want to play 3/4 roles instead of 2???? Anyone?????
These days when I queue I don't want to play one role very much and another role not so much, I'm more like two roles very much and I'd also like two other ones. What these roles are vary from day to day and depending on how drunk I am.
You don't need to work with your team to succeed in solo q. You can get to diamond 1-ish just pushing top as nasus all game and drawing 1v2s/1v3s and doing nothing else. You just need the mechanics to outlane people.
After that it only depends on your slot order, as people at that elo will play more counterpicks/meta picks then champs they are good at. So late pick = keep climbing, early pick = get countered and pray your team is ok
