Marcus 'Dyrus' Hill, one of the first professional North America League of Legends player, stated that he wants to retire and become a full time streamer while doing Youtube content after TSM dropped out of Worlds.
One of the main questions that will be asked is what I will do after this. The truth is I don't really know what will happen but this is what I've been planning.
Streaming, YouTube content that either is having fun or teaching league of legends. I will also be doing my best to be as honest as possible without crossing the line when it comes to analyst criticism and explaining the many points of views as a former pro player. There is also a possibility that I take a break for a year and come back as a sub or someone who helps the team as another point of view. I will most likely not join any other team as a player because they probably wouldn't want me in the first place and that tsm is the only org for me that I owe all this to.
Dyrus stated that he feels burnt out and want to stop playing League of Legends professionally. After more than 5 years being part of one of the best NA teams in LoL and many local trophies and most recently winning IEM IX World Championship.
- Are you going to continue living at the TSM house like TheOddOne, or move somewhere else?
Me and oddone might end up moving out together to create a streamer house. Maybe we'll make a show together and make fun of people who make fun of players. who knows.
Say what you will about Dyrus and TSM's performance at Worlds (and their never making it as big as they maybe could have), but it's difficult to have anything but respect for the guy. I hope he does well in life.
The last of great personalities that made TSM what it was...much respect.
Their whole team looked burned out except for Bjergerking. I hope they add streamer personalities to their ADC and top lane roles instead of just sheer talent. I think they need to reinvigorate their passion for the game. The XPeke interview where he talked about making sure to not set goals too high is something TSM can take notes on.
I feel that adding simply strong talent with no personality is going to be a detriment at this point, since it's going to set expectations high again and they were already crumbling. Having a new top laner where nobody can tell what to expect is what I'm hoping for. Some high-risk, high-reward firebomb.
Besides, the TSM fan in me was a fan of all the players. Bjergsen is still fun to watch, but the rest of the team is...bland. With Dyrone gone, there's hardly any color left in the team.
Of course they should go for talented players for top and adc, anything else would be plain retarded. They get turned into streamer personalities no matter what because they have TSM infront of their names.
I have been screaming for Dyrus to retire for ages he has been such a big stick in the wheel for TSM at times and have been extremely terrible to adapt. Obviously it has gotten better but I think it was time for him to go if he doesnt want to completely destroy his renomé. I have never been a big fan of Dyrus as a streamer too monotone tone and not very clear for the most part, but a lot of people have and will most likely continue to follow him. I wish him the best of luck with his future endeavors. The scene obviously loses a big personality and one of the OG players, but its time for new blood to shine through.
Dyrus: strong enough for domestic scene, laughing stock for international events.
While he certainly worked really hard to maintain his consistency over the years, given how the TSM environment works I am not sure if his full potential was realized. In my mind, Dyrus could have been a far stronger player if he played for different teams.

I dunno, I just don't see why you'd ever follow any western team if your only gauge is skill. The TSM that I liked had a bunch of players that you either loved or hated. Adding and mixing a bunch of good/great players isn't really gonna do anything for me in terms of how much I like the team.
For example, I still think Santorin is a good jungler that plays even better when the team does good. But...he doesn't do or say anything really interesting. I literally have nothing to say about him other than that he's a good jungler. It's kinda like Cloud 9. There was a quite a long stretch of time where C9 was indisputably the best team in NA, but I just never found them interesting at all. I feel like TSM is going down the road of becoming a team that's 'just good'. Even if they get really strong players and become the best team in NA next season, I fear that they're going to be 'just great'.
Dyrus was the last player in TSM that just frequently says stupid shit whether you liked or disliked it. You screaming for him to retire for ages is an example of Dyrus and TSM's charisma imo. If it was any other team or player, I think you wouldn't have given two shits about it.
How does that even correlate with TSM's charisma? Me wanting a specific person to retire so they can get a better player in that role so they actually dont get gobsmacked at an international level when they face Asians is just pure logic. For the record I do not like TSM at all. Take that as you will. Santorin is a decent jungler yes but as we have seen he gets torn apart at an international level and a team of TSM's posture in Western eSports should be looking to do well internationally and not just domestically. And saying that I wouldnt give two shits about another player retiring is just plain stupid, I was calling for YB to retire for a while because it was plain out disturbing to watch how poorly he performed at times. I have followed League at a lot of levels since late 2012 early 2013 and I have witnessed my ups and downs. I were very frustrated with they way Snoopeh played before he retired etc. I did not give a fuck when OddOne retired tho.
I dunno why you keep trying to sell off your point of view as pure logic when it's based on emotions. I still think the amount of interest you have speaks to their charisma, even if you don't like TSM.
TSM was the first team I gave a crap about, and I did because of their characters, not their skills. Now that Dyrus is leaving however I fear they're all out. Definitely gonna follow when he starts streaming though.

Please explain yourself. How do you view Santorin as a good jungler because for me it's quite the opposite. People give dyrus so much grief when there is so much more to than just that. -_-

So wasn't he supposed to do this whole burning bridges epic post-retirement? What happened here, he change his mind to start streaming? I mean if he burned bridges with Riot they'd probably ban him from even streaming League so he'd be toast. Nice interview but still mad disappoint.

I can not even imagine watching 10 seconds of it. The streaming appeal of this type of NA players has always been a complete mystery to me.
