The sky is officially falling for Cloud 9
They may be forced to blow up this entire experiment sooner rather than later. Nobody except Sneaky is performing at a top tier level even for NA
If Meteos made this decision on his own then I can kind of understand it, but if this was a managerial decision it seems completely insane.

They got docked bans by Riot for late submission so highly doubt it was management. Seems something happened and Meteos just had enough.

I haven't been able to watch NA this split since like week 2 due to work, is Meteos playing badly?
on paper it looks like Incarnati0n is a bust and Balls is trash, but ofc stats lie in this game.

Everyone's looked pretty miserable, honestly. Occasional flashes of competence combined with some *dreadful* calls.

This is just me speculating here, with no real source of information or what have you, just an observation.
I wonder if Meteos is stepping down more so for mental health reasons than anything else. I mean, you go from a Worlds contending team for 2 years in a row (which puts a lot of pressure on you to begin with), and are thrust into a new role (of being the shotcaller) after your main shotcaller retires due to health issues in the spring season. You are expected to perform at a similar level as the shotcaller while still being expected to do the same plays and being that playmaking jungler you have always been.
And then your summer season is nothing but growing pains and loses left and right, with the community asking/saying something to the effect of, 'is C9 done in NA LCS?' Then there's the internal pressure on you from the coaches, staff, and the other players.
If he is gone from the scene entirely and basically straight up retiring, and with Hai stepping in to fill for Meteos for the moment (I suspect they'll try to find a replacement jungler and hand shotcalling over to Lemon), then I wish him all the best.
As for the organization itself, after this season it will probably be time to rebuild, probably looking to rebuild around Sneaky and Incarnati0n if they even still want to play after this shit goes down.

To me, Balls looks lost (and can't get a carry top laner for himself), Meteos' jungling looked ok (which is a downgrade from how it was in s3 and s4), Incarnati0n I feel is still adjusting to the pro scene and trying to expand his champion pool, Sneaky seemed to be doing fine, and Lemon just looks a bit slow.
Honestly, I think everyone in NA finally caught up to c9 in terms of their rotations and game management, which is what c9 used to dominate so hard in season 3 and season 4, and the individual player's weaknesses (mainly being average at mechanical skill level) is catching up to them.

Hai used to be a pretty good jungler back when c9 was still in challenger, lets see how he does now.

This is really unexpected, I know C9 isn't doing well but I doubt they can get better by replacing meteos. I really wonder if the incarnation move wasn't too risky, this team has been on top for so long that it's hard for them to start from scratch with a rookie. They should've gone with pobelter, imo.

Yeah thats what it looks like. Which is really unfortunate for C9...and probably means the ``hes staying in C9` talk is a bit of fluff

I mean they didn't qualify for the first ever season of LCS with Hai as jungle, and a big part of what turned them around was moving him to mid.
long time ago though

This.
But for the mental health reason, we all know from interviews that morale was low in the spring season. The players didn't say it, but I'd guess that the feeling of "replace Hai" was lingering slightly in all of the players. Now, after dropping what seemed to be the players' idea of what was causing them to lose, they pick up a highly mechanical (supposedly) solo queue player and everything was supposed to be fixed.
Then the summer split happened and Cloud 9 find out that they literally just threw out the guy that kept them relevant all this time. That's a pretty big hit to know that they were the cause of the downfall for the other guys on the team.
Feels like Meteos just broke first because he was the designated shot caller. I'd guess that this happened after just losing a scrim or something because Hai was pretty clear on not want to play professionally anymore. Upper management probably just told him to finish the season so they have time to find a replacement.

Didn't that roster have Nien,Yazuki and WT mid? The move from Hai jungle to mid was almost a brand new team with Meteos/Balls/Sneaky being added to the roster. Seems unfair to say that they couldn't make it with Hai jungle but then did when he moved to mid as they redid the majority of the roster while making that change.

Maybe Incarnation is just a huge asshole/terrible teammate and Meteos got sick of dealing with him, both as a shotcaller and a teammate. I mean, that doesn't seem very far fetched, it's still 100% revolving around the replacement of Hai, and it would still make Meteos the first to "break" in dealing with him. That also seems to gel better with this 'emergency' step-down just before the LCS week begins. Some kind of boiling point in-fighting, not just Meteos being like "I can't handle the pressure it's too much and I'm not good enough!!!!"

He was way overrated when C9 had success right after they got into the LCS and people attributed it solely to his skill when how ahead he was of other junglers had the farm allocation at its core (Balls and Hai were often 20+ cs behind their opponents even without laneswaps because Meteos would farm a lot, and tax heavily whenever he ganked, hence how rich he was and his ability to beat the enemy jungler in duels and counterganks). No, you're wrong, at least in the standard lanes games I watched his exp and gold advantage came predominantly from accurate jungle paths and ganking. He was the best jungler in the west, no contest. In laneswaps he was ahead simply because entire C9 was 1 meta ahead of everyone else when it came to laneswaps at the time.
I very much agree. Meteo (Peak Meteos) never had a "farm heavy" style, he just had a "waste no time" style. His real weakness was that he was never as mechanically gifted as someone like Dandy/insec (which makes what constitutes a "good gank" slightly different) and his lanes were never as useful as those of Cyanide or even Oddone. At worlds they were competitive with Fnatic despite having a mostlyeven bottom lane and 2 solo laners that were much worse.

Random idea for the CLG Meteos crowd, what if C9 traded Meteos for Zion? It gives C9 a playmaker, replaces their weakest member, and gives CLG a real jungler. It would require Hai to stay on in jungle though, which he may not want to do.

Would gut CLG as Zion is the main reason they look good. Upgrade for C9 though in top lane.

Trading away a proven performer and arguably #1 toplaner NA for a jungler who's been struggling this split would make no sense for CLG. Might as well ask TSM to trade away Bjergsen for Altec because they want an upgrade in their ADC role.

Yea, probably just wishful thinking from a C9 fan :>
