we actually do play ad malzahar but not as an adc. I like him alot toplane, he is a huge bully to many common toplaners and I haven't had much success playing him botlane. What build do you go for when u do it? I having been really liking manamuane, triforce, lastwhisper | ||

I having been really liking manamuane, triforce, lastwhisper I mostly jungle it, where I go Warrior, Manamune, Last Whisper into situational items. In lane I'll throw in Black Cleaver or even just a Brutalizer in the Warrior slot. I don't like Triforce just because I don't autoattack a lot and prefer to kite with voidlings but you only really waste the attack speed so it's not a bad pickup at all. | ||

Urgot with Muramana, Frozen Heart and a Brutalizer is pretty powerful at that stage of the game. He does plenty of damage, while also being tanky, with FH and his shield. | ||

You don't see Mage+Support in competitive play because since you can't push the tower down you can't lane swap it. If you do, the enemy duo will get your tower first. Mage+Support actually works just fine for solo queue if you have a ranged AD mid, but you don't see it because it's unorthodox and requires coordination between 3 people, which is v. difficult to find in solo queue. I have seen it show up on exceptionally rare occasions in solo queue (probably seen it less than 5 times total since season 2), and when I do it usually works just fine. | ||

unless they are running tons of tanks who can't dive i guess but most apcs do tons of damage anyway | ||

How would y'all build Brand? Rylais Liandries seems pretty core, but he also seems like someone who wants 40% later in the game. Lucid Boots + Morellos/Liandries and then some combo of Dcap/Ludens/Void/Zhona? | ||

I mean, if one of your two APs was Ziggs or Azir it'd probably be fine. Was it season 3 when some NA team played Nidalee+Soraka bot and actually won a couple games with it? | ||

Fuzzy on the details though. | ||

Nowadays Brand is just useless. If I had to guess I'd say Grail/Rylais/Liandries is probably the best standard build right now, similar mindset. Can probably change stuff as needed. The slow and HP is needed cause it's a lot of extended teamfights right now and you need to kite around a bit. | ||

Like, if you compare him to Syndra who is a modern sort of mid range AP lane bully mage. Brand maxes W, which goes up to 255+60%AP+8%HP for 90 mana on a 10s cooldown. Syndra maxes Q, which goes up to 264.5+69%AP for 80 mana on a 4s cooldown. And you say "gosh Ketara, those numbers look pretty much the same, what are you talking about" and they are pretty much the same when you look at them in terms of one spellcast. But Syndras damage is more mana efficient than Brands (3.3+0.86%AP damage per mana vs. 2.8+0.66%AP+0.08%HP damage per mana) And Syndras sustained damage is also crazy way higher than Brands (66+17.25%AP DPS vs. 25+6%AP+0.8%HP DPS) so even if Brand can be similar in early laning damage output, he falls off later in the game. Then Syndras utility is better as well. Brand gets a 2s single target stun that requires he hit two skillshots, while Syndra gets a longer range 1.5s AOE stun and a 45% AOE slow. Finally, Syndras ult does more single target damage than Brands even in a best case scenario, which we all know you never get on Brand ult because it's unreliable as all fuck. And all this time I am comparing Brand to a champion people don't even play anymore because they think she isn't good enough either. Brand just one of those older champions who was killed by power creep. It's kind of like comparing Lux vs. Xerath. Not that I'm bitter or anything. | ||
