How the fuck did people read Monte saying he wouldn't work for Riot as he's not casting for OGN anymore?
Even if Riot KR took over "KR LCS", OGN is still the broadcast company, and casters would still be OGN employees, not Riot employees.

I count at least two--Sufficiency and kongoline.
This whole discussion started because kongoline cried wolf about Monte not casting OGN anymore.

Not sure why some of you are trying to spin Monte's answers negatively but he didn't say anything bad about Riot, at least not from the "would you want to work at Riot" question.
Monte is one of the few people in the League scene who can and is doing very well as a contractor. He has the option to speak his mind about most situations and that's definitely not something you can do as a Rioter. As an employee, you pretty much have to agree with company decisions, even if it's something you're not 100% behind. He works for OGN, covering the best region in the world and he got invited to participate/analyze Worlds the past two years. Who thinks Riot won't bring him back for S5?
Monte may not get the best pay with OGN (I'm inclined to believe that Riot's pay is one of the best in the industry) but he doesn't have to censor himself, which I feel is very important to him. A lot of you really need to stop trying to read in between the lines, or another words, stop putting words in Monte's mouth, ffs.
Exactly what I wanted to say, but a bit more enthusiastic. People need to chill and understand that Monte didn't trash Riot at all, and gave a 100% PC non-statement.
If Rick Reilly or Peter King left ESPN/si they would give the same exact reason plus "work on my book".

I am sure you only read the first sentence of that arricle.
No. Self-employed is not the same as freelancing.

When I was working freelance I was an employee at a freelance agency, now I'm self-employeed and don't work freelance. So yeah.
Freelance != self-employed.
