It was at ESL Poland where he said stuff like there being nothing in Poland and how bad the country is. Now after being removed from Ongamers he issued a wall of text where be basically says his remarks weren't offensive and were merely based off his Polish friends knowledge of Poland and the "worlds" view of Poland.
TLDR: Still an ape.

His treaty shows he is actually REALLY racist.

Thorins job told him to STFU. Thorin was later fired for saying other offensive things. Since he was fired, he was then allowed to talk about the things he said, so he wrote a gigantic treatise trying to explain the Poland stuff in context so he didn't seem racist. But when you read it, the treatise is still pretty racist and it's lol. The whole thing is basically "I said Poland was a shitty country. But in my defense, that's true." I mean, we constantly hear the jabs at America, about landwhales everywhere, and 44oz sodas are the norm. No one gets flak for making those jokes. But, all of a sudden some British dudes opinion about Poland gets overblown by everyone, and everyone loses their shit.

I can guarantee you if Thorin refused to go to America on the grounds that he might get diabetes the same thing would happen.
|
Yeah but look at the way he said it. It was incredibly biased.
|
We still need a new word to describe "prejudiced and kind of an asshole about it against a country" because racist is currently getting used for that, but that is not what that word means.

Yeah that's the word you want, it just doesn't have the same connotation. Racist works fine.

I'm disgusted I got baited into googling this.

Thorin will always be relevant as long as he remains one of the high water marks for content creation. People hate him but love SI, his historical articles, etc.
As soon as less offensive people start coming out with the same level of content that he does, he'll fade away. Until then, I guess we just have to deal with him.

maybe im just crazy but i never thought thorins content was actually objectively... good. hes better than that rimjob artist travis but thats not saying anything at all. the overarching feeling i got watching thorins interviews are that hes in love with himself, he is absolutely sure of his own intelligence.
he frames every question with "now listen to this really smart comment ive got, this really unique point of view, oh yea you can talk now". thats not deep understanding of the subject, thats asking leading questions.
the best interviewers in the world ask concise questions, that allow the answerer to move around and change the topic as they see. seeing how someone perceives a simple question tells you more about their mindset and their feelings than their answer does. someone being offended by a simple remark shows you they are feeling defensive, someone trying to associate your current question with another topic shows you what they care about. when you spend 2 minutes specifying the question down to exactly the answer you want, you might as well just google the answer anyway.
especially when we already know that player and org management reserved the right to pull permission after the interview already took place, these detailed questions arent going to force out any extra info.

I remember saying that Riot doesn't make any money off of eSports and everyone called me crazy ;_;

I didn't realize the Cup was so heavy. That explains why it always seems like Rioters are trying to hold on to it when it's being awarded.
