hmm, pretty interesting, I see what ghostcrawler is driving at but he definitely seems stupidly biased. Kiting as melee becomes range management and target switching is a major decision because you have to chase someone down to do it.

I definitely agree with hashinshin in that they should stop all the random slow mechanics that every champion has. They are so strong because its so hard to lock down ranged champs so they like the flash+flay plays but it fucks melees without gap closers way harder than anything else, slows are lasting way too long and it forces viable melees to have broken burst.
super boots are really good but if you dont have mercs and like morgana is in the game its 3 seconds of a bind so basically eternity and you can't miss at a short range

Hmmmm, I don't think there's a lot of bias, but he has a lot of trouble explaining things IMO. He should have definitely talked more about the problems with range, rather than just the melee problems. Both classes have problems, I guess the 'Fighter' problem is easier to talk about.

The slow point is an excellent one. To follow your example, Thresh should have never been given a slow on Flay. That is completely unnecessary power.

The things I found most interesting about that thread were posts from regular posters though. There was one about how end game LoL itemisation for range characters is stupidly cost efficient, which makes for a bad mix and another about there not being a great enough differential between move speeds, which I agree with. ADCs especially shouldn't be able to build movespeed with shit like PD and Shiv. That seems grossly out of whack to me.

I don't really have a problem with PD and shiv, BoTRK is just a stupid on ranged adcs I feel like, I think it was invented for melees to kill other melees who were super tanky but the end result is just to trade crit for insane damage on full hp targets and an extra mobility steroid
mobility steroids arent that great on actual melees because of all the said slows but it's still pretty good on stuff like shyv

When I read the initial post all the GC posts made me think "Wow he's so biased", but now that I've read his responses to the thread I actually tend to agree with him. Most of what he says seems very reasonable. I think this is a case of either the things hashinshin says are being pulled out of context (either intentional or not), or GC did a poor job at explaining his stance the first time around.

IMO the problem is, inherently, that Ranged AD champions are what are the "hard carries", but they also are pretty hard to shut down early. Sure you can go crazy and kill an AD all the time like what happened to Pawn vs. White in G3 (basically the old TSM vs CLG strategy), but that requires a teamwide effort. Shutting down a melee hard carry like Jax or Yi is comparatively much easier, and they typically are not capable of carrying properly in teamfights. So the whole melee vs. ranged relationship earlygame is inverted based on lategame power (which is why bruisers have all these free stats and can be really ridiculous midgame).

So the problem is that you have the lategame carries also hard to deal with earlygame.

After not playing League/ADC for a few weeks, holy balls is Nami/Cait hell to play against as Vayne...

I have no idea how to play that lane aside from conceed CS, trade if they overextend and try to not feed/hope to stay somewhat even, +- 20cs.
