If you take a look at picks in OGN over a season, I think it's somewhat revealing, you just have to control for factors including the ones you listd (comfort picks) as well as stuff like patches that occur in the middle of the tournament, specific thought processes behind picks (not always available unfortunately), etc., all of which are more important than the actual number that you see. I mean it's like real life lol, statistics are important you just have to put them in context and realize their limitations. But for some reason people on this forum like to think of everything in absolutes and think you can model the game with Excel or something. It's silly, however, to hold up LCS or NA solo queue pick rates/win rates as something that's as revealing as OGN statistics. The difference in play is clearly there despite what apologists say, so there's that. I respect pro players in their ability to play the game (usually), but we have had many instances of players making outrageous statements about balance or the meta only to 180 a week later. Again, not all players are subject to this, but it has happened enough to throw doubt on the validity of LCS players' statements in general. If their analysts and the people who actually make their strategies say something, I'd be inclined to give it more weight than someone like Doublelift saying "Sivir is useless" before completely 180ing into "Sivir is my favorite AD" lol. | ||

SoloQ is not organized, plus the vast majority of players are not challenger level... so it is very difficult to draw any conclusions regarding champion strength from professional play to soloQ. | ||

You clear pretty fast if you grab AP runes, and your countergank and counterinitiate are pretty brutal. Unfortunately, you're still Maokai. I'm a terrible jungler for not learning the bug, but oh well. | ||

I feel like the only reason Maokai isnt viable is because assassin jungles are really the strongest atm, utility/support jungles arent in favor, especially since you have all tanks coming out of toplane, not enough room for another one on your team | ||
