Xerath ult is now lux ult range, Q + W is such wave clear, so CS. If Ziggs is picked in this meta, I can totally see Xerath coming up now as well. Q real clunky to use though.

What the hell does 5000 range look like on that rank 3 ult?

You can ult mid inhib turret from almost middle of mid lane. It's nuts. The travel time on each shot is probably in the same league the old ult charges landing were. Shit's cray yo.

I'm psyched. Always liked Xerath's look and concept, even if I've never seen him played right/his pixels have always been a bit wonky (except Scorched Earth).

Of course, I don't want to be so right that he's new FotM immediately and I can never play him.

I found real troubles using his Q though, smart casting it is nearly impossible, since you'll want to move now during it, but I mean..clicking somewhere to move while you're holding down the smart cast and know it'll fire where your mouse is pointing..just felt really unintuitive. One of those spells you'll want to normal cast if you normally smart cast stuff.

QW combo will wipe out a minion wave before they reach a tower, super tower defender. E is a line skill shot that stuns the first target hit, longer stun the longer it flies, W has a massive slow if you hit someone with the middle of it, so E+W or W+E combos are super strong. And now all of this abilities are nukes, so his all in damage potential feels pretty crazy. EWQ someone and if they have to flash away, you're nearly guaranteed to land your ult on them and they can't get away from range even with a double tresh-express. Feels real strong. I want to see some LCS level mids show what you can do with him now.

I don't understand why is it hard to use with smart cast. The only difference is you hold down the button instead of click it.

I really like the new xerath.Look really strong but will have to wait and see.

I'm hoping it feels exactly like Varus Q to me, and thus no problems.

A number of people in the thread are complaining about having a continual cycle of FotM champs due to buff/nerf cycles. I see this as a good thing in a game where it is impossible to have 100+ equally balanced champions. Having different FotM champs sustains a fresh feel for the game over time for players and gives viewers, who are tired of stagnant, identical pro match-ups, the chance to watch some new games unfold. Riot will over-nerf, they will over-buff, and they will sometimes hit the mark perfectly. In almost all cases where they mess up, they will fix the issue. And the great circle of broken will spin ever onward.

His E has up to 2s stun at level 1, and its travel speed is around twice Morgana's Dark Binding's (and probably faster than cocoon to), it looks like such a strong one-point wonder and hard to juke.

His Q works like Vi's or Varus' if you've played them, lends itself well to smartcasting I'd say.
Cant take LMS hipsters serious.

Can someone explain to me whether or not there is a reason why this phenomenon bugs me less in DotA? There's obviously FotM for each patch (see CM from 6.79), but it doesn't bother me nearly as badly.

Is that just because I play so much less DotA and don't feel the pain as much? Or it is what I perceive in my own head and that there are more valuable Champions (OR HEROES WHATEVER) per patch than the few that seem to dominate LoL metas at any given time?

Was that question at ALL legible?

The pool of played at highest level champions is just bigged in Dota i feel.
Part of it is probably because of a wider lane possibility (aka the strict tanky top/ap mid/adc/support bot restricts the amount of viable champions in LoL). Part might also be because of how they balance but I dont play enough dota to know if they actually do something different with balance.
It ignores such insignificant forces as time, entropy, and death

Assymetric power curves, no jack of all trades but a few. Masters of a few aspects, more variety different skills in Dota and more flexible lanes. Also everything is broken.

In other news it appears as though Starladder is adding LoL. This means that they will have 3-4 leagues, Amateur series>pro series>Star series If everything follows the same structure of Dota. There will also be a LAN event every so often and a large pool of LoL teams who can compete in Starladder(hopefully it doesn''t conclict). In Dota this is usually about 12-16 teams in Starseries and a lot more in pro or pro-am., this should mean that CIS can finally get some more teams going as its one of the biggest reasons why Dota is so big in CIS and why there are so many good players from that area. Should be good for both up and coming teams and existing teams as long as Riot doesn't have a hand in it.

And the difference between another champ doing this is what? Blame DFG and Lichbane if anything.
Kayle used the two burst items that exist to kill a squishy (1 defensive item) Riven, and then proceeded to melt a pure tank renekton like any 6 item AP would.

DFG and Lich bane added about 2,5k dmg (before resists) on riven in that fight.
Nothing is impossible, only some things for some people.

I wonder which of my favourite champions is gonna get destroyed next by a "rework". They absolutely butchered Skarner, he lost everything that made him Fun to play and they nerfed him overall on top of it.
Hope they leave shaco be for a bit, I'm sure his rework will make him generic and boring aswell

Tbh the red (now rox.kis) will probably just harvest starladder if only because they're the first non gambit Russian league team to not disband after one loss.
Doesn't help that Russian league is home to flashy who destroys every team he touches.

Other European teams are also allowed to play in Starladder in Dota(and I think it would be the same in LoL), it is not exclusive to CIS teams(Although a large amount of the teams participating more then often is CIS). But yes the average lifespan of a CIS team tends to not be that long.

Eh, show me a list of AP carries who would, not only survive Riven, but then take on a Renekton as well and "melt" him.
Stuff like LB or Veigar can blow Riven up (and I'm pretty sure she'll survive Veigar if she hs mercs because herpaderp instadash out of W), but then they run or die to Renekton. Karthus? Straight-up dies and maybe gets one with ult (joke's on you, Riven shield!) after they walked away from Defile. Ahri may get Riven, but she'd have to run from Renekton.
Brand? Malzahar? Annie? Gragas? Lissandra? Diana?

Ryze is too short-ranged to be able to kite them while spamming and he'll blow up to Riven.
Cassiopeia has the damage to do it, but the skill difference for outplaying Riven is already weighted way against her, if you throw in a Renekton to avoid too it becomes absurdly hard if not impossible.

Asmo, apart from particular stuff that I find annoying in general (like Viper's permaslow and short cd huge-ass slow ult), part of why DotA annoys me a bit less than LoL for stuf like that probably comes from me not knowing the limits of the heroes and stuff. I'll get wrecked by any smurfing pubstomp Huskar, but when people get to a decent level it looks like he's pretty useless. I guess if you go down to Bronze (or up to Diamond I / Challenger where you have the oddballs) you'd see more diversity than in Silver/Gold/Plat where most of the lemmings are.

Also LoL champions are more compartmentalised (?? wtf dictionary). Partly because of lane set-ups, but also itemisation: I'm sure the DotA equivalent to an all-AD teamcomp in LoL is less all-in, because non-scaling spells in general make incidental magic damage stronger (esp. for supports who won't buy AP in LoL) and you can't as easily just stack armour so that 4/5th of your team take 25% damage from all of theirs.
I assume that the increase in difficulty to get to high-ground between standard comps and short-ranged ones is lower in DotA too (4 melee + Graves is absurdly brutal is you didn't snowball vs waveclear).
Also just the fact that "autoattack carry" (or crit carry) doesn't equate "ranged hero" definitely helps with the compartmentalised thing.

On another note, about the Mundo vs Jax match-up (since people kept telling Jax smashes him), how's the lane supposed to be played out?
+ Show Spoiler [Game details] +
Both starting dshield+pot, I managed to farm till 6 (better than him too) by trying to keep the wave in the middle or near my side, so I have minions to hide behind if he tries to cleaver me. Around 6 he ended up pressuring me though (I had to burn a bit of mana to counterpush or last hit in tower range, took a bit of W harass when i went in for last hits, and the stray cleaver starts hitting harder as he gets more points into it) and I asked my jungler to hold the lane so I could back without 1-2 waves being wasted to the tower (plus I wanted BotRK asap so I skipped boots).

I was definitely winning trades with cutlass and had good harass, however killing him was very hard w/o relentless aggression as I wouldn't be able to chase for long (as soon as I chase past minions I'm an easy cleaver target, or if I dodge he gains ground so chasing becomes useless) and either I dropped him low and tried to all-in with ignite to dps through his ult, or he'd use it more conservatively (and while hanging in the back) and I wouldn't want to burn ignite just to reduce his sustain with 1/3rd the cd.
It seemed like I would kill him in the long run, or drive him away from the wave, but then unless I manage to freeze (hard since Jax draws aggro to harass) he'd sit under tower (it takes way too long to kill him for me to attempt a dive) or his jungler/mid would show up and I'd have to relieve pressure, giving him time to sustain.

Our Kha'Zix somehow managed to lose lane to Swain rushing Grail first item (almost died level 2, I wonder if he tried to all-in him) and cowered under tower so obviously I received more attention/roams than average, but it still felt like unless Jax gets a true island going, he won't lose to Mundo but he's going to take ages to kill him, making it hard to bully him out of relevance (the fact that you need a complete BotRK doesn't help, nor that it's extra hard chasing him for consequent damage).

Ultimately we lost the game because underfarmed Kha (rushing MoM too) and Lee don't do shit to farmed Swain+Mundo+Nasus and with a 3s latency depriving me from my ult's resistances I couldn't hold them+Draven for more than 4s when we fought, but I'm sure it wouldn't have been so bleak had I been able to properly win that lane and I feel like I did something wrong.
Cant take LMS hipsters serious.
