It's also that coin is the safer alternative. Plus it also facilitates roaming, whereas Targon means you have to actually stay in lane to take full advantage of it. I think the coin and relic are both in a good place atm. The kage one maybe needs some help, but I think pros underrate it.

The kage one maybe needs some help, but I think pros underrate it. I don't know if this is what I've gotten across (properly), but I feel like, yes coin is the safest, but also has the best active (honestly, I think the other 2 actives need to be significantly improved). Like, the AP one is probably supposed to be weak, because Riot has designed AP to be great on most supports, but the way you get rewarded on it doesn't work for most supports for very long, and the same is true of Targons. Its just too difficult to get an AA or a CS as a support during a game right now, mostly because lots of supports have really long CDs and AA harass from ranged characters doesn't exist that much after the first tower dies. I think there needs to be a way to get the GP5 passives from the non-coin items to scale for pros, or, at the very least, they need to be given actives that are on the same level.

I want to play a ghost game so badly... guess I could always take Reaper Karthus as the "boss", and technically Thresh IS a ghost... Haunted Zyra maybe? If all else fails, just grab Mordekaiser.

And again, maybe it's just me, but I feel like the AD items are much more gold efficient than most of the AP ones, or at least there are more options available for the item build paths. I mean, depending upon your team comp and what the enemy is building, you can see an AD champ go Triforce, Cleaver, Tiamat/Hydra, BT, LW, IE, BotRK, even Ghostblade or Manamune. Meanwhile, what item can most AP champs go into? All they really have to choose from are Zhonyas, Rabadons, DFG, Void Staff, AA, or Athenes. Lich Bane is niche case, only good on 4 champs (Kayle, Fizz, TF, Diana), Nashors is good on Kayle only, and Abyssal is more-so meant for AP supports than AP champs (though I can see someone making a case for it being an item on Diana or Fizz).

Makes sense since the defensive mastery-Tenacious gives 4 armor/2 mr for every champion thats near by, add that to Wukong's passive which gives 8/8, thats a lot of free stats. That mastery makes Wukong's passive comparatively weaker, not stronger ;S The Chinese Sivir splash is still by far the best. In fact, it's probably my favorite splash art in the entire game.

I've just bought all of them and they really seem horrible after a few games. :-/ In my opinion, they're only worth it if it makes you get an extra ability off at a certain CDR, which also would significantly improve your allining ability. Needs to be a specific case, and important enough. No free RP on my account. Disappointing.

That situation pretty much will never happen and is not worth having real quints (and energy yellows would be PX levels of bad). 4.5 energy every 5 seconds means you can get a 40 energy spell off in 30s except your entire energy bar already refills by then.

If you want energy runes you're better off getting + max energy runes cause those actually can see edge benefits. Flat Energy Quints give 5.4 per (x3 gives 16.2) Flat Energy Glyphs give 2.2 per (x9 gives 19.8) Scaling Energy Glyphs give 0.161~2.89 (x9 gives 1.449~26.01) So if you get max energy runes you can realistically get an extra ability cast off on say Akali or Lee Sin. It's still probably not worth it since there are more useful alternatives.

I think you're underselling AP itemisation. I mean you say lichbane is a niche case, but how is ghost blade not? Abyssal is good on any short range Mage. Plus you didn't list liandrys and rylais (key items on a lot of champs), roa and morrellonominimicom. I don't think you're giving it enough credit.
