What's more depressing is hearing players talking about how they didn't see Chauster in solo queue for a year, yet CLG kept him on their team during that entire time. Why the fuck are you having players on your team that don't even want to play the game anymore? Also, watching Dyrus struggle in solo queue, just makes me so sad for NA. This guy used to be considered the best top in NA, and he's struggling in solo queue. #NAplz

na solo q isnt used by competitive teams to systematically scout talent, so theres no incentive to play tryhard solo q

NA scouting is down to seeing which 2011 name is a free agent and taking him.

I still remember that game where Bischu played Nidalee in his promotion for Challenger on KR. The amount of control, player-synergy, awareness, mechanics etc. was just beyond any solo queue game i've ever seen.

poor Alex Ich lol was challenger 90% of season 3 decayed into Diamond during worlds. Worked his way back up to a challenger promo during the last couple of days/week. He has ~ 2 hours to win his promo now and some high elo players are (perhaps) troll q dodging him.

you mean the one where his team got destroyed and Flame Jax almost hard carried it from the ashes?

Never thought I'd see a Zeal first Graves again, last hours before ranked lock is quite something. Well he had Zerkers+Alacrity enchant on top of that as his "second" item but last time I saw Graves do that enchants didn't exist yet so it doesn't count.

Isn't there also an issue with NA solo Q where most people in the D1 and Challenger ranks is full of more troll picks/players that EU and KR server, so looking to scout out players from solo Q in NA isn't as relevant.
Also, there's various people in NA solo Q who got to D1 or Challenger playing one champ or a VERY small champ select (Riven, Rengar, etc.) and don't have as large of a champ pool as other players (though you can say the same thing about a few NA pros as well).

It's a vicious cycle. You're saying NA soloQ is terrible because NA soloQ is terrible.
It just doesn't work this way. The day more players will really tryhard to get to challenger, the mentality will change because «high elo streamers» will fall back to low D1.

When hotshot tried to make the 1 trick pony thing an issue Bishu said it's actually far more common on KR because people care so much about their mmr they only play their best champion.
I for one often just play whatever the fuck I feel like playing, because spamming the smae champion is not fun for me. When there was a lag on NA realizing how good Jayce was I could have literally played him every game if I wanted to but I could only play so much Jayce.

There's no guarantee that day will ever come though since NA solo q is not an avenue to pro play and there's zero incentive to tryhard in solo q, so why would you expect the mentality to ever change?

Maybe if sponsors/teams dropped shitty players quicker there would be.

I don't think it's a maybe, but at the same time personal stream exposure is still the big ticket. Right now in the off season Snapdragon is getting 8 hour+ days out of Oddone all at top 3 on twitch.
meanwhile CLG Link is out cast to Azubu.tv and his sponsors get IEM and battle of the atlantic until February.

and appropriately to this page Dig announces Cruzer as their new top lane.
to be fair they did try new blood last time.
