I dont understand why Riot thinks people want IP boosts.
Even me, a person who has only like half the champions doesn't want an IP boost. I mean, if they actually worked...aka like each game worth 500 IP...or just give me 10k ip, srsly.
Edit: To clarify the IP boost is dumb for 2 reasons:
1. It feels bad for the players, thus Riot gets absolutely no PR out of it. They get more backlash than good pr. 2. It costs them money.

I think ip boosts are better than nothing and really I don't mind more ip per game.

1. Their playerbase is quite resilient and has a lot invested in the game, making it quite slim that said "backlash" will result in significant amounts of players leaving the game 2. I'm not sure where you're getting this idea that it costs them money from (prove that it costs money to put fake money into people's accounts?) but even if it does it's an investment which further entices players to play, which has multiple effects
If you look at it from a business standpoint and not an "I'm a player and I don't understand business" standpoint then it's a lot easier to see the potential rationale
It's not about giving people what they want, it's about making people do what you want them to do

I actually kinda want Riot to create four separate EU servers now and then force transfer people who are on EUW to other servers. They've stated that they don't really know how to handle the insane server load of EUW so these problems are just going to keep happening and I'm really sick of the entitled bitchy attitude that some EUW players have.
edit: p.s., I do not mean this as a sleight to EUW players who are cool dudes and don't bitch and complain about region X getting something shinier than what they got. In fact I think very few of the bitchy EUW players even visit our forums.

I've been buying a lot of runes lately and IP boosts are the only way to get them faster. That and if they gave me RP, I'd have to break out the algorithm to get back to 0 again, because they'll probably give the most asinine amount if they were to.
EDIT: Ready to roll out!

Aren't IP boosts more efficient than purchasing champs with RP money wise if you play enough games?

Only for time based ones. Game based ones are worth exactly X games of IP, no more, possibly less depending on game mode.

In understand the sentiments, however, I took a lot of classes with This guy at UPitt during my undergrad. If they wanted to give people the kind of addictive investment into their game you are talking about they would give them a lump sump payment at the end (or more addictive, at a random time) as opposed to the "bonus by 1000 cuts" approach.
A few months ago I was not earning RP even though in the postgame it would say I did. I didn't notice till I looked up and was like "WTF? only 1112 IP? I just played a marathon." 75 IP per game is not "rewarding" to a player from the business POV.

I'm currently going through the arduous task of buying the damned hybrid pen runes and keep track of my IP very closely.
There is a very specific reason why the $10 RP option comes with 80RP. It's just like bulk prices. Yes, I can get more for less. But maybe I don't want more. Then I have to play number tetris whenever I want to get something or if something comes on sale in apprehension from something I want that I know is coming in the future. No, thanks. I'll buy my 3 lots of $5, buy two 975 items and zero my account.

I'll happily take my IP boosts over getting nothing. I play a ton of games and every bit of IP is a nice gift. I don't expect Riot to compensate me for their server going down sometimes, shit happens I understand. I'm just happy to get something for free I have tons of champs I want still, let alone getting more than 4 rune pages and the associated runes.

IP boosts are good from a reality standpoint. From the PR standpoint its not gonna help them much. The people still playing in the EUW after these server issues aren't going anywhere no matter what.

So you're saying they don't need to do anything at all since the people aren't going anywhere lol. So why not throw people a bone at least? I see no harm done and all it does is make some people happy.

All this Team Siren stuff shows how short sighted a lot of the community is. They don't realize that the Sirens are getting exactly what they wanted when they made that video. They have people making thousands of threads about them on Reddit, tuning into their games against guys like Hotshot and company, and now have a huge group of people who will tune in to see them lose any time they stream.
Do people realize that everything they said in their video was bullshit? Do people actually believe that they think they are going to challenge for the LCS? They're a fucking Gold league 5v5 team. They are a glorified e-sports personality team that have no intentions of winning the LCS in the next ten years. They're going to make all their money from their streams that will get thousands more viewers now because they want to see them lose.
If they had made a video based on reality, do you think anyone would give a shit? 'Oh, we're kinda decent players, and we're going to try our best to win amateur tournaments!' Fuck no, so they went on and said hyperbolic stuff like losing isn't an option and that millions of dollars are on the line. Their end game isn't winning LCS, but to get more and more people to tune into their streams and pay their revenue through that source.
The video was extremely cringe worthy, but it's working out beautifully for them. Five gold league players are now getting more attention than Korea did for destroying everyone at all-stars. Now anytime Team Siren wants to stream or play a showmatch, tons of nerds are going to make threads, watch the games, and then act like they "won" when Team Siren gets destroyed.

Incontrol just made a team Siren joke on Artosis' show Meta, what is going on guys lol

At first I didn't know what this troll in my game today meant when he kept saying he was a siren and losing is not an option but after see the video and now three games today idiots talking about them I'm already over it

So team Siren = a bunch of girls who's willing to trade dignity for money?
|
I'll be honest, I don't find the appeal. The Team Siren jokes aren't funny and some of them, which get massively upvoted, are down right abusive and out of line. It'd be really awesome if TL, reddit, and the official forums would just stop talking about them instead of referencing stuff from the video in every thread and mocking them at every turn.
I feel bad that they're getting so much hate largely because they're females but at the same time I'm angry that they're abusing their gender to make money. Their team is like a lose-lose for women everywhere.

christina/tina and solvanas are decent players, christina is one of the best ad/supports ive seen.

Sirens are just a huge fucking meme at this point. (also my friend beat sirens in ranked 5 before they released that vid; hue)
