hmm would a good example be Ryze? Spell Vamp AND CDR are amazing on him after your RoA. I will definitely try building Tear+Spirit Stone on my first back, then RoA + upgrade stone for spell vamp. The extra damage to minions definitely helps a champ like him who uses mainly single-target spells.. In fact I can think of a lot of mids who benefit from CDR+Spell vamp+minion damage.. basically any farm mid. (ahri, anivia, karthus, maybe lux, orianna, cassiopeia etc)

Swain's Slayers Silver I represent.
Lol it sounds horrible

Meh. I don't like how they put their League system in the UI. Instead of doing something like "when you look up a profile, if it isn't yours hide the losses # and %" they just always hide it, and you have to click 3-4 more buttons to get to your ranked stats and look up the winrates on your most played champions (I use it as an example since you could see it immediatly pre-patch).
And Irelia's jackals, yeah. Wtf. At least it's Irelia.

I still don't get why Riot always patches their servers so late, why don't they just start shutting down the servers at like 1AM instead of 4 or 5AM >_< Like there aren't that many people playing at 1-2AM, it shouldn't be that hard to start then right? Or am i just spouting out nonsense right now? I have no knowledge about servers so maybe i'm totally wrong.

I mean of course it had to be CLG vs TSM to start off the LCS NA. I'm just not wanting to see TSM get stomped so very hard

One or two per day would be enough imo.

And EUW is up. Log in fast before the queue gets insanely long, its already 5mins.

Its not minion damage though, its monster damage. Only works vs jungle creeps and drag/baron. Its still still provides just over 2k of stats plus that passive and the 20% vamp though. But you have to weigh it against other items which can be extremely efficient as well.
I would be hesitant to build it on Ryze unless I was in a very tough harass lane, as It would delay ROA and tear which is a big fucking deal on him (Roa gives 4700 worth of stats for 2800 after its charged, plus the mana is worth more to ryze, tear is similarly great and you need both ASAP).

Oh, yeah. Also, higher number of stacks on BC makes it even less desirable for selfish purposes and "few damage occurrences" burst champs (think Talon, while Malz would be the opposite for magical champs since W and R tick so fast, or Teemo), who got nerfed with the price nerf on BT. I should try and play some Talon to get a better grasp of how fucked up his itemisation path is right now. Probably pretty awkward with the high "single" costs on BFS and BT recipe.

I just read the patchnotes guys, omg. Why don't you message me in skype or something, spent all yesterday playing civ4 t.t Ok, so here's my thoughts because I am sure great many of you appreciate my wisdom: Nunu jungle is dead, dead, DEAD. Don't jungle him anymore. I was trying out jungle Volibear 2 days ago, now he gets buffs. SICK. He's got amazing top lane ganks and maybe some midgame niche that is waiting to be discovered, I'd be reluctant to pick him on blue side though. Maybe. Idk, a lot of unexplored things. I used to try jungle tryn like 2 weeks ago, he farms super fast, these buffs are really welcome though. More deeps always good, his efficiency in the jungle is also increased by the rage durations. Really nice overall. Elise jungle not affected by the nerf at all, I DODGED A BULLET. Started learning her, guys on LP told me she's gonna get nerfed. Still awesome as god in jungle though, I am so happiiyy.

Shaco nerfed for no reason, though. And Ezreal, who's already a tier 2 pick AT BEST gets nerfed even more. I guess Riot doesn't want heroes with responsibility. Blitz now only has mana for 2 hooks. Then without regen he's at 0. Lee nerfs, Shaco nerfs, Blitz nerfs, Ezreal nerfs. Every hero that does well with skill gets nerfed. yes im mad.

Tryn BAT buffs could be huge, might need to try him now.
Anyone else having the most random champs displayed in their "top played champs box"? Like for me it shows champs whom only played a few games with and only with an average winrate like 50-55%. None of my most played champs/ biggest winrate champs.

Far as elo goes...
It works pretty well for chess, and chess players play significantly less games than LoL players do. So it should really have been just fine as a relative ranking system.
Except in chess its a 1v1. In LoL it's a 5v5 and a single person is at the mercy of 4 other people.
The other key thing about chess is there's only one role. There are a number of skills involved, but you practice all of them every game. It's not just the team aspect, but the fact that unless you're extremely adamant or well known you don't always get to practice the same role.
Plus on top of all that you have champion picks, item builds, and other factors that make LoL a much more variable game than Chess. It doesn't make Elo worthless, it just makes it harder to say what it's measuring.
Kind of. Its not quite right to say its harder to say what its measuring
Since the measure still converges to what we are looking for it means its exactly as easy to say what its measuring. Its just that, since it takes longer to converge our measure is initially less accurate (the accuracy of the final guess depends more on how much you're willing to let ratings change and is based more on that parameter than the convergence)
In English. Games with more players provide less information about the skill of an individual player so when we initially attempt to develop a order of players it takes longer to do so, once we have gotten there however, there isn't a difference in the accuracy between a 5 person team game or a 1 person team game.
Most of the variation that we see in ELO comes from the fact that we want our order to be able to update when people get better(or worse) and since we don't know whether or not a win or loss was random or because you had actually gotten worse we have to treat if its providing new information to what your skill is.
What this means is that it is a function of all rating systems that final accuracy is determined by the speed of convergence which is limited by the information contained in the game and a user determined parameter for how much we want to allow ratings to move.
IIRC, for games in which we only have information on who won and who lost the Elo heuristic is efficient (I.E. in order to make a system which converged faster you would have to reduce the amount of skill movement you allow)
I think what you are trying to say is that we know what elo is measursing, the effect an individual's presence has on the outcome of a match?
The main problem with elo is the same problem that any reasonably accurate or better rating system will always have: most people suck, will not get better, and are in denial about this fact. Don't get me wrong, elo itself has flaws and it was lazy/wrong of riot to utilize it in this capacity and after deciding to use it, they could have done a much better job in implementation. But these flaws are subtle and do not have very much to do with people who swear that they are "stuck in elo hell" and try to come up with rationalization after rationalization for why the system is broken, not their skills.

Shaco was a terror champion on mainly NA, though not seeing banned as often on EU.
Ezreal has been like the #1 adc for so fucking long, im happy they finally take measures. Though someone like MF has been getting incredibly popular in season 3, i think it's silly to say that he's a tier 2 pick, when he was picked very often at the EU LCS.
The blitzcrank nerf is probably because you wouldn't get punished for trying to grab and fail. RIOT just wants to make it more rewarding for people that actually lands the hooks instead of a support being able to single-handily win a lane by pressuring with his hook constantly.
