Sounds like a gift from God for the trolls who you hate to play with but are actually decent enough at this game to be high elo when they try. Edit: Nvm I'm misreading something. Seems there's a difference between skill tiers and skill divisions? | ||

Seems there's a difference between skill tiers and skill divisions? Each tier (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Plat, Diamond, Challenger) you can't fall out of. However, each tier will have "leagues" a la SC2 comprised of 250 players split into 5 divisions of 5. You can go up or down from division 1 to division 5, and from division 5 you can move up to the next tier (gold -> plat) but you can't fall out of the bottom division of your league. I imagine division 1 will probably be div 4/ div 5 opponents of the next weaker tier after dust settles. | ||

Not sure how I feel about it, could be good, could be bad, have to see whether I like it when it's implemented. What I don't like is not being able to actually go down in tiers if you play badly. Surely riot isn't going to let people purposefully lose games and play badly and not actually get negatively affected via ranking/rating. Whats to stop people from getting to a certain tier they deem acceptable and then playing badly forever afterwards and troll and then still claim they are still good because they got into "blank" tier. I know their invisible mmr will still get affected and they will play against worstm opponents but then they have a tier on their profile that is lying to everyone. | ||

Yepp, basically they just reward people more who don't really play ranked much by giving them little milestones so they can go to their friends and go "WELL I'MMMMM DIAMONDDDDD HERPDERP, BRONZE SCRUB" with even more dickish attitude. Since you know, they're trying to make the divisions of bronze, silver, gold, plat, diamond to seem even "bigger" even when they didn't change. | ||

I don't think it'll change too much. Even now people will say "my top elo is 1600" if their top elo is 1600 but they're sitting pretty at 1200 currently. People will eventually learn that "I'm lowest division in X tier" means that "I reached X tier once but I'm worse than that now" And who knows, maybe riot will change their mind and let you get demoted if you do extremely poorly. I just hope they have an information leak somewhere where you can figure out your matchmaking Elo regardless of the cosmetic ranking changes | ||

Riot can change alot still but I might like this if it plays out like SC2. | ||
