Happened in BW/SC2/DotA/etc. LoL isn't going to escape it. Though the scene is healthy enough to survive it anyway and continue growing.

(I allegedly got reported for Jungling Kat in a bunch of Normals) If he was "trolling" by afking, feeding, or BMing that is entirely fine to ban him. Hell, I once did an all snowbal item Rengar + necklace in normals and I had lots of fun. On October 31 2012 06:46 Treadmill wrote: TSM Dyrus streaming Smite. League of Legends scene is dieing. I won all 4 games I got reported in xD Their expense was dealing with me doing bullshit builds while carrying them. If anything they should have honored me! Its's k tho. I do RL things for 5 days then hit plat on monday before reset. Haven't been outside in a while, anything new to expect? Heard it was supposed to rain or something. Just troll builds not BM or anything. I barely even play Normals, I play them to cool off if I am heated from ranked HUE

To be fair, a friend of mine who doesn't play LoL/DotA but has watched me stream it a number of times told me that he understood what was going on in Smite a lot better than he ever understood LoL. That said and having played Smite, I don't think it quite has the chops to be the next big thing. It's fun, but in the same way other MMOs were a brief diversion before you went back to playing WoW. I think the LoL scene is healthy enough to survive foreign dominance of worldwide tournaments, I just hope at some point a team or two appears who are more interested in giving the world a run for it's money than competing against TSM/CLG et al for streaming revenue.

The west won't lose pro players because unlike the other games you don't need to be the best to make a living off of it.

Yea roam taric and bruiser mid, killer strat for worlds, would have taken them straight to the finals for sure. Dyrus is a idiot but if dig are really saying that that's why they lost than it falls into the category of CLG's purple side excuse.

Pretty sure most professional organizations (outside of esports) do this all the time. Also, if it was meant to be a secret, why tell anyone outside of your team. Lol >.>; Like, what would they have done if they had to play TSM? They would already know the strategy. Doesnt seem like a reason to have to put up an apology.

It has the potential to lose tournament viewership due to a lot of viewers not caring to watch tournaments where their favorite teams lose (even on TL, which generally has a better attitude about these sorts of things, there were a lot of people who decided to not watch the TPA vs. Frost Finals because it was 2 Asian teams). This in turn affects potential sponsorship both for teams and for events. Suppose we get to the point 6 months down the line where at any given event, Korean teams beating Western teams is basically guaranteed--there's the potential for a LOT of Western viewership attrition.

It's just you trust the team you scrimming against before the finals to not reveal anything and they trust you not to. If you can't even trust the people you practice against then well what's the point? I imagine that's what Dig was feeling like when they found out. Dyrus is more than just an idiot, he betrayed their trust.

You may lose some tourney viewership in the big events, but the bulk of the LoL pro money is coming from solo queue streams atm. The other games (BW, SC2, Dota) all depended on sponsorships to maintain a relevant pro team. I don't think that is true for LoL. Also the game is much more personality driven, so individuals can get personal sponsorships and such even while not being a top pro player (think Incontrol and Idra for the SC2 equivalent).

See, I don't consider solo queue streams revenue toward the professional scene because it contributes toward neither establishing tournaments nor establishing teams. It allows players to generate an income stream playing the game, but in a completely different way from professional competitive play. It's arguable that it actually detracts from professional competitive play (especially given how streaming income is most common on NA, and actual competitive play on NA has deteriorated the most).

Doesnt seem like a reason to have to put up an apology. Dignitas spent weeks before the event every day the whole day scrimming TSM. They figured out a way to implement roam and bruiser mid into highest levels of current play (they managed to stomp TSM multiple times in a row with it). Then one of the guy they spent hundreds of hours practicing with goes to their opponent and tells them exactly what they learned in those scrims. No big deal. I'm pretty sure most professional organizations (outside of esports) leak trade secrets and research results all the time to their direct competitors.

They haven't made a single complaint about it. That said, you're an idiot if you think this is anywhere near CLG's excuse. Dyrus completely betrayed Dignitas.
