You learn two champions for each role. If you have to mid, you take one of the two mid champions you can play.
I found that you could just main support. Always call support. No one will contest. Ever.
But doing just one role gets so fucking repetitive. Not to mention that I play support in most of my games.
I have played ap mid literally once in my whole ranked career (as ap yi) and maybe 5 times in normals. I have yi and ryze as the only heroes that are viable aps. You can call 'anything but' in the select and you'll get by 99.9% of the time. That said, you'll probably be forced into support if you do that.
unless it's "anything but support". Jungle isn't 99,9% either. If you ask for anything but mid of course it's 99,9%
now that I read the quotes too I probably anwered way out of context lol.

Give them the good ol' Kassadin to the face.
Lol you send kassadin against any of those you'll get shit on.Not sure about eve don't play her.

Eve is just one huge mejai's.If she gets rolling she will 2 shot anything on the field. If not shes meh. Also she's one of the best roamers right now so that's pretty annoying. She's kinda like ap rengar,I didn't believe in him either until one annihilated me and the support in one combo.

Eh, really just play anything you want. "Counters" are only counters if they know what they're doing. I‘ve FPed Ryze and ran into Cass, Brand and the like and still manage to win most of them. At the same time I've also lose to the silliest things like all AD team because my AD Ezreal think it's a brilliant idea to E into enemy team first just because we're ahead by 10 kills.
You're save yourself a lot of trouble (and stress) if you just play for fun and to learn instead of obsessing over winning so much. Of course, remember to mute anyone saying otherwise.

cho's e isn't an on hit effect, it's a spell that casts, independently, every time you attack, which is not a distinction that makes sense but it's there. So it applies rylais and wota. Actual on hit effects like kayle e or teemo e don't.

He doesn't, they basically changed nothing. If an old champion isn't used frequently now, nothing is going to happen to them and they're going to stay shit.

This is probably the least true thing ever said on these forums. Tons of 'old' champions wax and wane in popularity. Sometimes without Riot even having to buff/nerf them. Various examples over the last year include Annie, Twisted Fate, Morgana, Urgot, Nunu, Ezreal, and tons more that I'm not even remembering. It really just depends on how you're defining old but all of those champions I listed are like 2+ years old and went from never played in competitive play to crazy popular. Annie and Urgot are already back to never really played after nerfs but both are perfectly viable.
