I asked the question originally because I'm not certain who else compares in early game mana cost for clearing waves and harassing.
Diana falls off later because of the melee issue obviously but the mana to damage cost for her to clear waves or harass are pushing the limits of a mana champion.

That you should pick Diana instead. Ranged CS/harass and combos just as hard. Akali has more bad matchups, and gets punished more in her bad matchups.

No, your point was that nobody else can spam their main ability from level 1.
That is just not true.
Scaling manacosts simply don't matter because of blue buff, because by the time Cass Q costs more (level 7 if you max it first), she'll have that blue.
Ranged APs also have the liberty of itemizing a little for mana / mreg while Diana HAS to itemize tanky AP instead, otherwise she flat out dies when she dives in.

cho clears waves without ever running out of mana with like 0 mana items. He is also tankier, has sustain, more utility and certainly doesn't do less damage than diana. her strength lies in her qrq combo and the fact that ppl are not enough used to her.

Yeah you're right.
Playing as and against Diana her mana costs seem negligible all game. I guess it's just frustration learning to deal with a new champion.

jayce, lee sin, riven and others where underrated when released and even after initial buffs. diana might be an overrated champion. She is unique in having a shield + mobility + burst. But her weakness is her utility and heavy reliance on hitting Q. It is a slow skillshot. Ahri's Q is slow too but you allways do some damage with and it does not have that binary factor in it depending on who you are hitting. Gragas can basicly do the same thing but brings utility, aoe andsustain to the table.
Not saying that she is bad, but I think there are quite a bunch of matchups you shouldnt play with her because I expect her needing to be ahead to be usefull past early-midgame, which is not true for alot of ap carries. risky ap carry picks snowball into losses very, very fast and don't allways have the best lategame either.
