I'd kind of like you to clarify here... are you talking about more burst damage (in which case nearly always yes) or more DPS (in which case it's dependent on the champ)? Draven is actually an example of a ranged DPS whose DPS suffers from buying TF instead of IE. Vayne is an example of a champ whose DPS hardly suffers at all from buying TF instead of IE (not that it's standard practice atm). My point of view is that TF is an early game dominance item because my experience is that if I build TF when my team isn't ahead I never do the amount of damage I want to do and my team dies as a result. I'm talking about more damage in practical application off of your first 4K gold after your early game core. it is dependent on the ranged AD being able to proc sheen at will, hence why ez and corki are buying triforces and Caitlyn and Ashe aren't, but a lot of characters that don't build triforce would still do more damage on just 6 K gold with 2 dblades zerkers triforce than they would with 2 dblades zerkers IE, it's just that it doesn't scale as well up to 10K gold when a PD can enter the mix. I think phyvo is trying to say that his math shows IE to be better damage than TF on Draven, even in the situation you describe. It wouldn't surprise me given all of Draven's AD scaling factors. I'd like to see that math. His ad ratios don't strike me as impressive enough to overcome the innate benefit of Triforce Proc every 2 seconds + balanced attacking stats vs. focused attacking stats, but I obviously haven't done the math because I don't do that type of shit for ranged ADs.
The math is actually pretty straightforward, at least for a cursory check.
Base Auto-Attack Delta: +50 (IE) Delta w/ Axe: 92.5 (IE) TF Proc @12: 133
So for IE to do more damage than TF's proc you only need one Axe and one regular auto in the two second period, an extremely reasonable scenario. If you're successfully juggling two axes it isn't even close. This obviously doesn't account for the crit and crit damage on IE, or the attack speed on TF. However, it's unlikely +0.2 attacks per second is equivalent to a 125 damage gap on crits that happen nearly twice as often. There's also E and R to consider, which add another 1.38 to 2.7 AD scaling in an AoE to the equation.
TF obviously has some utility that IE does not, but if we're concerned primarily about damage it seems unlikely that TF is better.

Huh, you know I wasn't entirely certain they could make a skin worth it in the sense of the hype behind it but I'll freely admit they did in fact do just that. I stand corrected and a tad humbled.

Doublelift pwns faces as Ezreal at MLG.
Pulsefire Ezreal arrives shortly thereafter.
Coincidence?

Man Riot's gonna turn a million dollar profit an hour after that thing goes live.

I would love to see anyone complain about this skin being bad. Looks far too bad ass.

Hey, I'm trying to make a tinfoil hat over here. Don't bring reality into this!

Mogwai is part of the coverup. Don't let him fool you but I am willing to tell you the truth. Even if it costs me everything.
Doublelift is actually the Great Great Great Great Grandfather to Ezreal and his abilities in that MLG allowed for the final touches for Ezreal's ultimate skin. I can't go into much detail as even I only know bits and pieces needless to say Riot isn't what it seems they've got some crazy people and animals working in that place. I mean who else do you know that has Parrots and Moonbears and a "Doctor" shelling outfits and champion sales as part of it's staff?
Conversely, Aliens did it.

It's ~$12 for the first 4 days, after which it's closer to $24 ==; I'd love to have it but I don't play ezreal, let alone main him. I'm gonna have to pass this one up =/. The new pricepoint for legendary skins is pretty high though, I understand the work they put into making it but the old ~$15 pricepoint was the sweet spot IMO.
|
The pricepoint isn't all the surprising to me given how long this has been in the pipeline and how far above all other skins it is. What's more shocking is that they haven't reduced the price of some of the older "legendary" skins or fixed them up.
|
Wheres the source for the fact that its 1600 RP for the first four days?
I also heard they're including a package of summoner icon/banner and skin.
|
To celebrate Pulsefire Ezreal’s landing in the League of Legends Store, we’ll be letting you take him home for less than the price of a Legendary Skin for the first four days after he’s released. You’ll be able to add Pulsefire Ezreal to your arsenal for 1625 RP – a full 50% off his base price. After the sale, he’ll return to his regular price of 3250 RP.
Show your Pulsefire pride with this exclusive Pulsefire Ezreal summoner icon and profile banner. Once you acquire Pulsefire Ezreal, you'll be able to select your Pulsefire-themed summoner icon. Selecting your new Pulsefire icon will also deck out your summoner profile with this sci-fi banner.
Both found at bottom of page of their special promo webpage for him.

Good luck buying this skin, it's fucking 3250RP after it's intial release.

Conversely, Aliens did it. I think Riot was specifically waiting for a serious progame in which Ezreal does beastly (clg vs tsm, doublelift's 19-2-5 ez game), to build up hype, so people will buy the champion AND the skin.

They've been hyping him for a while though every now and then. Last thing morello said in the pulsefire ezreal thread was about a week ago and he said "hmmm...." which to me kinda meant it wasn't too far away.
on another note... kinda looks like raiden from MGS2

Good to see Riot FINALLY introducing new summoner icons into the game...even though you gotta pay $25 for this one...
Hopefully this is the beginning of the ability to unlock other ones as they add more and more features to the game. As for Pulsefire Ezreal they really went all out for this one; really fucking epic Riot. I guess it kinda sucks for all the people who bought the original 'legendary' skins when they came out since most of them barely have new animations and are mostly recolours. I do love to see that the bar has been raised skinwise...new Xerath skin makes me so sad I bought his other two first.

Yes, while older Legendary skins are pretty bad, I hold some pride in holding somewhat "Legacy" skins. Even the really bad recolor skins I like having because people are less likely to use them (Nottingham Ez, for instance). It's not something that actually matters, and maybe I'm the minority.
But yeah, this skin looks freaking amazing. I think they went a little overboard with the new Morg/Swain skins graphic wise, but all in all, whoever they recently hired to do all these new skins needs a raise (although I know pulsefire has been in development for quite some time).
